Edit. link wouldn't work!
Ohhhhhhhh Cosmo I just fainted.
Loving that pic Cosmo I bet quite a few ladies engines have started after seeing that lol Have always liked John T since seeing him in Saturday Night Fever, phew!!!!
What a great thing he's done helping the Haitian people, we watch all the footage, it's been great seeing so many rescued after the horrendous tragedy, but frustrating to learn it's taking so long for the water food and medical supplies to get through. I pray it all speeds up asap

Good on John Travolta to take food and medical supplies into Haiti, but why the necessity for an entourage of Scientologists? Apparently they are carrying out "touch therapy" to the injured, what next?
Personal opinion but whatever belief anyone has if their pure intent is sincere in wanting to help others the name of the belief isn't that important imho. As for touch therapy from what I've understood over the years it can help some people. If just one person is helped in some way it's worth trying
IMHO. It would have looked a whole lot more sincere if they weren't wearing T shirts advertising Scientology and let the Doctors and Medics who have been brought in decide whether touch therapy is a suitable course of treatment. The last thing the people of Haiti need right now is having Scientology preached to them. Believe me, I have been on the receiving end of their recruitment methods and they are extremely persistant.
If you Google "Casualty Contact" you will read how they prey on the vulnerable. They are at every major disaster.

I understand your concerns about Scientology as we had a friend who was drawn into it, us and others of his friends told him to be careful but he spent a heck of a lot of money on their books and seminars that he couldn't really afford unlike the Hollywood stars that have become involved.
As for touch therapy it's non invasive to the body, it will either be of help or not, and of course the medics also have their approach in which they know if surgery or certain medication will help or not. Whatever helps someone to survive is what I wish for all who need to be returned to health. If John T has flown food etc over there they also need that
The people of Haiti are poor so they're not there for money, only to help them in their hour of need.
I read an article in the Independent about this yesterday. The Scientologists are mostly there to recruit new members, and using people's desperate need for help as a way to get them in. There were some quotes from L Ron Hubbard's teachings on this very strategy. Shameful.
I am glad you read the article Dermantoid. Their strategy is to seek out the weak and vulnerable. They appear at every major disaster - 9/11 being a particular one. They were such a nuisance that they were banned from the 9/11 site, for hindering the work going on. They don't just go for people with money, they need to recruit more people to spread the word. They believe that being Gay is an illness of the mind and can be cured and that many medical conditions do not exist - in some cases I understand recruits have died because they were not allowed to seek outside medical help.
The last thing the poor people of Haiti need is to be brainwashed by these people.
I agree, Miss Lippy. The article in the Indy said they were seen trying "touch therapy" on people with serious injuries - and regular doctors at the scene getting exasperated about it. One said something like, he doubted it worked on gangrene!
Predatory parasites, in my opinion.

What a diamond....and that pic Cosi *drools*
The people of Haiti are already brainwashed by the regimes they have suffered under. Didn't Baby Doc Duvallier make Voodoo the official religion there? I doubt that a few Scientologists would have that much effect anyway.
How brilliant, the wealthy can always put their hands in their pockets, and good for them. But this is really helping, what a lovely man.

Yes, I think he did, Kaytee. Or it may have been his father, Papa Doc?
Either way, they were dreadful rulers.
Hopefully, the Scientology mob will get short shrift. It's great that Travolta has got much needed supplies over - and that is to be commended. But I suppose with that, comes Travolta's beliefs and his desire to 'show' that Hubbard's teachings are some kind of enlightenment.
Barking bonkers on one level. Alarmingly sinister when you dig under the surface.
As with all disasters, there's always something or someone trying to muscle in from a dodgy angle.

I suppose you could say that of all religious groups Cosi.....barking St Stephen will be there next with his own brand of evangelism.I'm not sure whether it was Papa or Baby Doc...I'll have to Google at some point, but they were both nightmares on legs
