...he's as mad as a march hare, but what an amazing housemate. I'm really enjoying his often bizarre character.

He is f**king annoying, but strangely watchable. SO I kind of agree
I cannot stand the man.
I am not sure how crackers he is, but he most certainly would not make me wait for food until after prayers. Not likely.
Like Vinnie he says everything as if he is an expert on the subject - and neither of them are.

Stephen is a complete fruit loop. He's overbearing, and when he starts the bible bashing he cracks me up, I am thorougly enjoying watching him.
pure-red, precisely what I mean. Don't for one moment think I'd enjoy being a fellow housemate with him though. But watching the other housemates' tortuous facial expressions when he starts up, or watching Alex being cornered by him, it's comedy gold!
Seems we are more or less all in agreement LOL. He was exactly the same in the US version of 'I'm a celebrity' last year; very annoying and a little bit bonkers.

i'm glad he wasn't up for eviction, i think he would have gone.
He gives me the creeps.
I wish some of them knew a bit of the Bible, so that they could challenge him on its contradictions and his horrible Evangelicism.

If there is even the slightest suggestion that he is imposing his religion on others, then he should be ashamed. That is so wrong.
An open debate, even disagreement, is alright, but forcing it on people against their will is utterly wrong.

He's certainly a character so he's good for tv. I've been around Bible pushers and it can get intense especially the born again ones. In some ways they're no different from the JW's or the Mormons. Have come up against them all and stood my ground without slamming the door on them or being rude about their beliefs, each to their own...had the JW's round last week, a sweet elderly couple so I just let them talk for a while without interrupting, have heard it all before, and eventually without getting argumentative smilingly mentioned I had my own beliefs and wouldn't be changing them and said nice talking to you but I have to go now, wonder if they'll come back again lol.
I think Stephen is an excellent HM, he is so essential to the show. Yes, his annoying as Uncle Buck but he has to stay to the end. He seems to have cooled down with Nicola, which is good too. Him with Alex yesterday was so funny. Amen.
I find him absolutely hilarious and cant take him seriously, perhaps because I am on the outside looking in ... he is comedy gold
He's a mentalist, but funny with it.Him praying with Alex had me roaring with laughter.
He is entertaining if nothing else......
I'm afraid. He's converting me. Never have I uttered "Oh my God" "Jesus Christ" and "Holy ....such and such" so much. I agree he's good TV.
He's one crazy coot.
That prayer meeting with Alex last night was a festival of cringe. Funny, Stephen lectured him earlier about knowing his own mind and doing his own thing - then pounced on him for a spot of evangelism precisely because he knows the bloke is gullible and will do anything for attention.

I understand what some posters mean about Stephen's usefulness in the house.
But I'm afraid he doesn't entertain me.
I find him rather odious.

From the very first night thought he was a crank. He's proved time and time again, he is!
I'm loving Stephen, he's a great housemate, he makes me chuckle everytime the camera is on him.
I wouldn't exactly say I lovehim but he is BB Gold and I actually enjoy watching him. Hope he stays until the end. He looks better without all that hair gel too.

Agreed .... sometimes a tad annoying .... but great value as a HM
He is totally bonkers and I wouldn't want to live with him, but he is a great HM to watch.
I find him hard to watch.Without going"Oh God not again".So maybe he's getting his point over.

He makes great viewing.
He reminds me of my brother - in - law - not in character, just to look at.

Evangelists give people who want to quietly enjoy their religion a bad name.

That's right. I'm not at all religious, but I have no problem with people who are - as long as they have no problem with me not being. My mother-in-law is a believer, who goes to mass every Sunday and also plays organ in her local church. She's known me for 15 years, yet has never even asked what my beliefs (or lack of) are, let alone tried to influence them. She's never been anything but kind and caring towards me, without ever once judging me.
Then again, unlike Stephen, she knows morals aren't exclusive to religious folk, and that "Christian virtues" are nothing of the sort, if you brag about having them.
Agreed Dem.
He's madder than a box of frogs but I have to say for the first time in many a year I'm itching to be in there with him. Aside from Vinnie earlier has anyone challenged his behaviour? What that place needs is an equally determined alternative of any calling or not at all.

There is something not right about the bloke. So much of what he has said has shocked me and i think i would feel very uncomfortable around him and where ever he is i would be somewhere else.
I do believe in god and i am religious to an extent but some of the stuff he has said is very disturbing.

Preying on the vulnerable (excuse the pun), that's what Stephen is all about. He knows Alex is not bright and is lacking in confidence, and that makes him easy meat for Stephen. That man is twisted!
i agree, i think bb should step in now and tell him 2 cool it!
I agree with someone up above ^^^ - wish someone in there had the brains to challenge him on the bible and where it came from, who wrote it etc..... erm.... man wrote it yeah?
did Jesus have a beard???? was he white/black/brown???? was he long-haired etc??? - you know that sort of thing - how does one know for FACT eh? Why did he only choose MEN as his disciples??????
(and this is coming from a god-fearing person I might add)...

Oh there's far worse you could challenge SB with BarmyBrummie. But I'm speaking as an aetheist.
I'd like to challenge him about the similarities between Christian fundamentalism and Islamic fundamentalism.Had SB been raised in the middle east he'd no doubt be exhorting his offspring to strap explosives to themselves in the name of Allah rather than insisting random idiot shoots his daughter for failing to denounce the existence of some deity. Sheesh, if it worked for Peter...
But hey ... let's count ourselves lucky eh? Imagine if there was ever a President of the US mindless enough to share those views. Just imagine what might happen if he was ever in charge when all hell broke loose?
Oh - hang on.

I don't know if he's actually that mad or is pretending to be that mad to make a living by way of reality TV, either way I can't suffer the guy. I know he's entertaining but I am almost pulling my hair out every time I have to watch the imbecile open his outrageously excruciating mouth. The sight of him makes my blood boil. By the way, I am self moderating. I have deleted about 100 swear words. He winds me up so much

He's giving them a Jesus crutch
Not disagreeing at all Cariad.... so who is right then???? THAT is what I'm saying????
WIsh someone would speak up for themselves and their own self beliefs
Who is right and who is wrong??
I have my own beliefs that I have been brought up with, and will probably die by - but my eyes arent shut.... we all believe in something at the end of the day
who says I'm right
who says he/she is wrong?
someone needs to have a word with Father Stephen - trip him up (so to speak)

I think he is a brilliant housemate to watch but don't believe for 1 min he is a born again Christian , just another acting job for him when the movie auditions failed .
He knows exactly what makes good tv on these reality shows for the viewers & knows the housemates to target .
His praying with Alex is comedy gold .

^^^^^^^ agreed - I do think he has found HIS God however - ie - getting reality shows for people tripping over themselves to watch him make loads of money making a fool of himself...
Did God tell him the IACGMOOH USA and UK Big Bro..... sure he did lol
