Hello Suzi As you know I have good friends in Washington DC and the weekend before Christmas they got 15 inches in a few hours and were forecast for at least another 24 inches during the following 24 hours, it was at this point I wished that we had took up the invitation for Christmas in DC.
Cinds!

I am bloody freezing!  I am afraid to let hubby or son to go out in this, and it was a lot worse when I was growing up.  There were times when we would have ice on the inside of our windows (even with central heating and storm windows) and I remember my dad afraid to go to bed from worrying about the furnace (boiler) blowing up in the night.

Good wondered where you had been.  I have spent a couple of days whisper *reading* as well.  Mostly checking weather forecast websites though

I'm going to do what Daniel has done for the foxes and get the value dog food, don't think Roxy would appreciate me putting her (very expensive) dried food out and then she would spend even more time in the garden barking at the snow drifts stupid dog. I can't feed the birds because my cats don't go out, but next door's bulleh of a cat would kill them, the horrible monster sits on my window ledge glaring at my cats and Roxy is terrified of him!!

Cinds those pictures are lovely and remind me of our area yesterday.  It's just gone icy here now with snow flurries forecast (none as yet as Roxy isn't barking)

brilliant idea we stuck our christmas tree out in the garden today still in its base and hung fat balls on it. it looks reet festive now.

Some idiot kids did that at my husband yesterday when it has snowing really heavily, it hit his windscreen and made him lose concentration for a second, thankfully he didn't skid or anything, he just did a three point turn (braver than me) and drove back down the road towards the kids, and he said they just turned and ran, so not so brave.

Would like to add he wouldn't have done anything, just wanted to see what their reaction would be.

I remember winter 1976 to 77 (of course I wasn't born then being 21 and all ) Dad was still in the police force and had been on duty 9 to 5 shift and the snow came in, the roads were deep deep deep of snow, and Mum and all of us kids sat at the front window for hours watching and waiting for Dad to get home, not one car passed, eventually around 11pm we finally saw headlights and it was Dad, and my Mum just burst in to tears, probably relief.  It makes me laugh when all this fuss happens over several inches of snow when I think back to those times.

If only you had bought that house next door to me, we could be sitting together now, sipping wine with the creamy blanket over our legs watching the blizzard.   But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO a 3 hour each way commute to and from work was too much for you.
