Right there's this joke on Gavin & Stacey where only the welsh people get it, leaving the english people (Gavin & Smithy) looking absolutely clueless.

It goes...

Gavin says to the guy at his work, 'Hi i'm Gavin,'
Then the welsh guy goes 'Pleased to meet you Gavin, I'm Owain Hughes. And before you ask, no i don't.' Then Owain and seemingly every welsh person who is present goes into absolutely histerics.

I've tried thinking, I've tried asking people if they get it, but I still DON'T GET IT!

Can anyone please explain it to me?

As a Welsh woman I can confidently say no-one gets it, not even Welsh people. Apart from the ones on the show!

He said the only thing he could think of was that it sounded like 'owing hugh' as in owing money

I've just had a browse on the internet and someone has suggested that it is 'OWE WAYNE HUGHES', but i doubt it's that because it wouldn't make sense with the 'I'm', 'I'm owe Wayne Hughes'

Someone MUST get it, or maybe Demantoid is right and it's just to make non-welsh people feel stupid
