Silent Night, I cry whenever I hear it.
It reminds me of when my Mum used to drag me to Catholic Midnight mass next to West Ham football ground, she also dragged all our neighbours, didn't matter what religion they were, they all attended with my Mum mob handed because they loved 'Irish Kathy' there were loads of us, when on the rare occasions we had food "Kathy" would cook them all breakfast and feed Mr Goldshaker who was Jewish bacon sandwiches. I miss her so much.

Essie, since childhood of all the Christmas Carol's Silent Night has always made me feel very emotional and teary. My Mum's name was also Kath, also brought up in either East Ham or West Ham, a Catholic of an Irish Father who died before I was born so I never knew him as a grandfather. Although my Dad was a total non believer in anything my Mum insisted on me being taught Catholicism so I was schooled in a Convent. My Dad passed when I was young, Mum passed 2 years ago. I don't think I'll ever hear Silent Night without being emotional, it seems to be in my psyche for whatever reason. I enjoy many Carols though, including In The Bleak Midwinter posted above.

I have 3: Oh come all ye faithful, Noel, and Hark the herald angels sing.

Me and lil gyps love midnight mass its really magical. We go to a little church near us, its the cutest church you ever saw and the mass is usually by candlelight.  The best bit is when you leave the church and its all silent and crispy cold outside, the roads are deserted and all the houses have their christmas lights on. It feels magical and you just know.........its crimbo and if your reaaaaaaaaally lucky you might get a glimpse of santy flying

(you realise i say all that to lil gyps in a dead excited whisper and she replies  ....>

yes of course you can renton every church , or i should imagine mostly every church will have a midnight mass. They usually start at 11 so just pile up a few mins before. The church will have a poster outside in the run up to christmas with times of all the services they are holding, so just check the church near you or one you would like to go to.  They usually also have a candlelight carol service a few days before in the evening, thats really good cause it sets the tone for the next few important days, especially if youve been running round and stressed (i think).
