I went to see this so called scarey movie on Friday, my advice save yuour money, I've seen scarier Disney cartoons, I was very let down, only 2 bits in it that made you jump a little bit. I don't know why I bothered to see it,maybe it was all the hype.

I'm going on Wednesday night to see it. I've heard mixed thoughts, but I'm going in with an open mind.
someone i know walked out after 10 mins
Save your money, it's ok but not the claim people are giving it, the main woman in it is fit, my kind of woman, but apart from that not that great a film.
It's possibly the worse film I've ever seen in my entire life, bored me to tears, made on a budget of about ÂĢ100 and it shows
I know some that have enjoyed it, it's just not for me
Oh btw, I didn't waste money watching it, I watched it several weeks ago, elsewhere But if I had paid money to watch it, I would have demanded my money back with menaces!

I was considering going, but I think it would scare me too much. From what I've heard, it's more to do with the power of your own imagination, rather than what is explicitly show, so I would be terrified.
I have seen it and thought it was good and i didnt waste any money either as i watched it online

I don't want to discourage you from going, but that's how I saw it. I rather enjoyed the film, although I didn't find it particularly scary. However, a lot of the (admittedly younger) audience definitely were scared - in particular the girl in front of me, who was physically shaking afterwards.
Because of the "Torture Porn" genre, I think a lot of people nowadays tend to expect horror films to be full of gore and "jumps", but I tend to prefer "ghost story" type films, which are more about dread and foreboding. This tends to mean a slow build-up, and I can therefore understand why some found the start of "Paranormal Activity" a bit dull...

Its on a few sites where you can watch online for free

Would you say a bit like Blair Witch in that respect? More the power of suggestion than anything else? I was scared by that.

I've been trying to avoid "Blair Witch" comparisons when discussing "Paranormal Activity", but yes; there are definite similarities in style - and even in story structure. The biggest difference is that where BWP was all "shakey-cam" (which often caused motion-sickness, if nothing else!), the key moments in PA are shown on a fixed CCTV-style camera, which really forces you to focus on every tiny detail...
Very tempted to see it, but I'm a light sleeper, and I imagine I'll wake up in the night, looking at the door, expecting it to move. I sleep nearest to the door... Yes, I'm going to see it.
Was going to see it with my elder kids, shan't bother now, thanks pooly
