On the BBC news at lunchtime they said there were no fatalities, there were 8 people with serious injuries but were described as not life threatening, a further 27 people needing hospital treatment but not seriously injured, and scores of people with minor injuries.

The BBC said that witnesses had seen vehicles driving fast on the Sheppey crossing in fog without fog lights on.

I would wager a lot of them, but I also think they were probably driving too close to the vehicle in front and how many were distracted with mobile phone usage?

The only upside is that there are no fatalities.
