I have wished  "happy birthday" to a few people over the last few days. Some of them I have never chatted with that I can recall, and some I know a little more. I just felt it was one way of showing friendlieness towards people on the forum whom I don't know well, but I am familiar with their names and like having them around. A birthday wish simply seemed a courteous and simple way of acknowledging them.
Me too.

Makes you wonder why bother really.

This place never changes.

I feel the same way, Brisket.

Me too Brisket. It's never occurred to me that people might think it insincere.

aw Soozy, I don't mean name changes, I changed my own from supanan to nana lou.
I mean when people say that regular members get a new id just to troll the forum, I can't tell when that happens. That's all I meant

Err Hello.. I just want to say I agree 100% with Real and as I am not really a forum person. I was horrified at the extent some people go to to moan about things. I do not venture far, for fear of running into a bad sort I do not know.

YesYes there should be more moderation as Real suggested.

I may change my Avi but, as you can see I even use my name .

Once again we agree brisket

I tend to miss a lot of the birthday threads as I'm not on the forum as much as others but I always add a birthday wish to a thread if  I see one.

As you say, it's friendly and courteous and I enjoyed reading the messages on my own birthday thread last month.

It never occurred to me that people might have been insincere and I don't care even if they were - it still made me smile

I also tend not to notice a lot of the aggro on here

Absolutely.

Now I feel as if I shouldn't post on a birthday thread unless it is someone I have spoken to a lot in threads before.  I look on posting on a birthday thread as a courteous thing to do, and generally post on them, perhaps I now shouldn't, in case it is thought to be creeping.

Surely posting on birthday threads and any other thread if it comes to that, is just a way of keeping the community going, some say the community spirit is lessening here, but if you post on a thread then surely you are increasing the community.

I'm all kerpuzzled about this TBH

It's about time the mods on here cottoned on and removed them If i can spot danger-- surely they can ....Multi id,s serve no purpose on here -- only trouble.
Seems I missed a lot.

There is a difference to posting a greeting to someone you barely know and posting a greeting to someone you've been downright rude to and about. I think some people just post inanely and forget some of the nasty stuff they've said and done. I dont post on everyones birthday thread 9some I really and truly don't know) - if i'm vaguely aware I'll maybe pop in but ........it's hypocritical to wish a happy birthday when you have stirred up a lot of bad feeling in the past. Well ....................that's just my opinion.

The Blog i noticed this on origanally- last week i think was someone having a poke at carotino, stonks and shar... There maybe history here, i don't know, but if i were a mod i would nip it in the bud and hand out warnings to the perpetrators... Saying that-- they would probably return with a new ISP and name   The best thing is not to reply to nasty posts.   I know it would be hard for some FMs-- but ignoring them will make them mad..
