I am pleased they usually give out a rough time-table, because then I can just dip in for the bits I want (something like the newsreaders or weather people doing a musical number.)
Other than that I don`t watch. I perhaps see 20 minutes in total.
I have even less reason for watching this year because Tess Daly and Alesha Dixon are presenting.
One of the worst TV nights of the year in my opinion.

Gypsie ; id give money if they promised not to do it
Its to help kiddies  - at Christmas  - what a very nice gesture for ALL who give their time  - and money ,to help those in need, quite exceptional in my opinion.  Yes I will donate.   as I said  - its for Children - Orphaned, etc, and wont have gifts to open,so if ever ther there was a need  - this is it - please watch Gypsie and remember those little ones

They appear to have started collecting earlier than ever in my area. They were at it today.
Last year, on Children in Need Day, it was hell in town. People looking silly pestered on my route through town and back to the bus station.
Then to the pub with a friend where there were more requests for money.
But by that time I plucked up the courage to say "Sorry, I think I've given enough today."
If there is an item which appeals I may just tune in for that, but otherwise I won't be watching.

I always watch the start of it, which is usually great, but living in Ireland, mid way it switches over to BBC Northern Ireland and it is absolutely dire! You can't believe how rubbish it is - no disrespect to our N.I forum members but I think they would agree too. Having said all the above, i think it is a fantastic event and I always end up bawling looking at the little kids, especialy those that have to take care of sick relatives - they have no life!
We can contribute from Ireland and I believe that many people do. Whilst it is cheesy and I know what you mean about Fiona Bruce etc..you should be very proud of yourselves for the whole Children In Need initative

ohh im really sorry to sound so horrible but i hate it. newsreaders doing moulin rouge and eastenders doing the sound of music. makes me heave.
Sorry, but I'm with Gypsie on this. I think it's a fantastic cause and I'm more than happy to give money, and I don't begrudge it being on, but it's crap tv. I always watch Comic Relief because that's generally entertaining. No doubt when the little one gets older I'll end up watching with her, but I just find so much of it embarassing to watch. I also don't watch Eastenders/Strictly/Holby/etc so I have no idea who most of the 'stars' are. That said, I am looking forward to the Peter Kay song this year.
