Thanks EL, I'll wait a couple more days, it was from Amazon direct and I haven't yet received an email saying it has been shipped I'd have bought from somewhere else had I known it was going to take this long
Haven't had much trouble with Amazon, but I am careful to check the estimated shipping dates before ordering: they do sometimes vary for no obvious reason. Also, I have noticed recently that when I order a number of similar items at the same time, Amazon are tending to send them separately rather than wait and post them together as they used to.

Ironically under the current circumstances, the main reason I still use Amazon is that they send stuff by Royal Mail. I've had loads of trouble with missed deliveries from private firms in the past, but I live within walking distance of the Royal Mail Depot, so it's easy to pick large packages up from there...
Eugene's Lair
Jeebus, they don't help themselves. I had to go and pick up a parcel from the depot last night, and even though I'm on the workers' side, I wasn't impressed with their attitude.

I got to the desk (there was no queue) and there was no-one manning it. I could hear a couple of people talking in the parcel room beyond, so I rang the bell. In all, I had to ring it three times and knock the wall before one of them bothered coming out to serve me. I was standing there for about 5 minutes, while I could hear them chatting and watching telly in the back room.

Bloke eventually came out and said: "Oh, I did hear you, but I was doing something else. Maybe I should've shouted so you knew I'd heard you."

What a bright idea..
Demantoid
I can beat that Demantoid, I went to pick a couple of Special Deliveries up for work at the depot...the queue was long.....I queued for about 45 minutes, then they said it was closing time and we'd have to go back the following day!

I went back 1st thing and queued for another age, the ONE Man working behind the counter only has ONE arm! I know it's not his fault but bloody hell, they could give him some help (I was going to say 'give him a hand' **runs**)....

Bloody hell, I wouldn't have done that. I'd have said it was nowhere near sodding closing time when I got there, and it's NOT MY FAULT they were so flippin slow. Worra feckin liberty!

Having said that, the bloke next day sounds 'armless enough...
