I've had Skype a couple of years, and it is excellent!
It now has a webcam facility, so can see each other as well as speak.
There is no catch. It is quite safe.
Computer to computer is totally free (and they have promised to keep it free.)
You do have to pay, though if the communication is computer to phone or vice versa.
To keep it free, it must be `computer to computer`.
So get a head set (earphones and mike) which doesn`t cost a fortune - and you`re away.

Moomin, I use it at work to contact the Office in Ireland

Also, if needs be, the 3 store sell little skype phones, the handset is about ÂĢ40/ÂĢ50 and works exactly the same as PC to PC, you CAN call the skype phone on the PC with this handset and vice versa...again, I have one of these for work and one of the girls in Ireland does, so it works out very cheap for calls....

Oh, and should you buy a little handset (they're quite neat) what you have to do is load the phone with ÂĢ10 per month (like on the o2 PAYG), if you do this every month, you get a few thousand skype to skype minutes free per month, and still get the ÂĢ10 credit for noormal calls/ texts.

He could call your PC from the slype phone then! Easy peasy....

Me and my O/H have used Skype for years, we keep in touch with one of my Sons who is in Australia.
It is free if you use it on the Computer and you use the Web Cam as well.

You can get Skype phones, we have them as well, but you have to top up each one each month with about ÂĢ10.
And by the way, you can't buy a Skype phone in the UK and take it abroad, you have to buy it abroad as it's a different network and the UK ones won't work in Oz.

There is nothing to worry about, it's a godsend.

And i'm sure there's no other cheaper way.

What on earth is the matter with this forum at the moment? It either keeps crashing on me, or it tells me i cannot post, so I try again only to find that I had done so the first time!!
It would be best if you delete some of those same posts you have.
Just delete one at a time, it works fine, usually.

Thanks Hicky, forgot to add that if you buy the skype phone for use in a different country you have to buy it in that country....you are right, i'm sure there is no other cheaper way, and once you get the hang of it you'll wonder how you ever did without it....

We have even put our Laptop pointing at the big TV so that my Lad in Oz could watch the match, or listen to it on the radio from over here.
