I don't know if any of you remember me mentioning about 4 months ago that I had a terrible pain in my head when I went to Barcelona in April and the plane was landing,I also couldn't hear properly in my right ear for a couple of hours afterwards, anyways, someone on here suggested I may have an ear infection....

...so, I went to the Docs and they said I didn't....however, this week i have had a roteen pain in my jaw (not eaten solids all week), and down the right side of my face, so Tonight I went back to the Docs, and guess what....I have a raging ear infection that is also now affecting my jaw!!!!!

So, whichever FM suggested I had an ear infection in the 1st place, you were bang on the money!!!!

ALso, my appointment was 58 minutes over, so I guess my blood pressure is a little on the high side too! Big Grin

lol... ppl are gonna think I am a hypochondriac, as I was posting about my kidney stones yesterday...

but I get bad ear infections too DiD (& I always suffer on planes, and can't go diving or anything)... the worst infection by far was one that spread to the mastoid (your jaw).

Have they given you Gentamicin drops & penicillin tablets?

Hope you start feeling better soon... its a hard infection to get rid of when it spreads like that. The side of my face swelled up... and I looked like quasi modo Frowner

They have given me penicillin and sone drops, will go and get the prescription later...at last!!! It's bloody painful and my jaw is slightly swollen!!!

I knew it was an ear infection after someone (maybe you) suggested it on here after I mentioned about the pain on the plane...it felt like my head was being squeezed in a vice...

...I actually thought about going to the Dentist as the Doctor said it wasn't my ear...glad I went back....

...on the POSTITIVE Laugh side, may have dropped a few pounds and a liquid diet all week!!! Thumbs Up

I lost just over a stone in weight when I had mine! I could only open my jaw a tiny bit, so I lived on soup and a selection of different flavoured mashed potatoes from Tesco!

The drops are very good! You may have to go back for a further course of the anti-biotics, it took two more courses to clear mine.

They are a bugger. One day you have a pain over the top of your head, the next your jaw, top of your nose.
Nowadays I drip tea-tree oil onto a Q-Tip and GENTLY revolve it in there.

YOU SHOULD NOT PUT ANYTHING INTO THE EAR CANAL.

I am very careful. Glance

I shall heed your advice GJ Valentine

The nature of my work occasionally led me to draughty conditions. My ears seem to be my weak point. In recent years, at the first sign of an itch, that was my procedure. But obviously if it takes a hold, then it's the Quack Salve and antibiotics.

Thanks pengy and everyone, just glad it's not anything more sinister as I was diagnosing myself with allsorts! Laugh

Might play on it for a while to the OH though! Laugh

Right, I do not want to worry you, there is nothing to worry about, BUT... do take the anti-biotics, and do not hesitate to go back if it gets worse, even if you haven't finished the tablets... It can be serious, when it reaches the mastoid... in extreme cases.

Like I said, nothing to worry about, but don't underestimate it.

That must be excruciating, you poor thing. I had a very minor ear infection years ago, and it was so painful I couldn't put my head on the pillow. Yours sounds a lot worse, let's hope you get some strong antibiotics and they kick straight in!

Is it pretty darn painful, but at least it's getting sorted! Yeyyyyyyy! My jaw is more painful than my ear, or at least the pain from my jaw is over-riding the pain from my ear!!!

I honestly can hardly open my mouth!!! Keep me quiet I guess!!! Laugh
