I dont think families who depend on the "pocket money" will appreciate that comment
PCE, I have COPD and I have to live of basic income support, I get nothing else, not a penny, nada. I don't get my knickers in a twist about a 24 year old who has rich parents claiming a bit of dole while he's between studying and calling it pocket money. He's right, it doesn't get you anything other than food, leccy and the odd hair dye.
Maybe im anticipating their reaction....

There is a glaring difference imo....Freddie made the comment ...Did the other HM by his own admission say he sells for his own gain the *rags* donated to charity?.
There is no difference. If you're going to dissect one HMs income and how they obtain it then why not everyones. In this instance both these HMs have said what they do.. so why isn't David's, for example, being chewed over in the same way Freddie's is? You even have FMs questioning whether he has fiddled the dole! So why aren't those same FMs applying their enquiring Colombo like minds to, for example, David's clothes sorting/ebay seller career. Just as many conclusions to be drawn from that one if not more.
The probable issue with Freddy's comment is while he does meet the criteria of entitlement his need is for the purpose of pocket money while for others without they would have absolutely nothing to live on ....No conclusions no unfounded allegations .
My comment is not about Freddie's comment.. it's about the uber-dissection of that comment in the thread.. while conveniently forgetting that if you stick a microscope on any of them (David being the easier example) you can get your panties in a bunch and throw indignant outrage at any of them.
That money is going to be pocket money to Freddie. Of course it is when you look at it..it's all relative and this is a fella who has been raised in a 70 room country pile, educated at a boarding school and probably wanted for nothing. God, I'd be more offended if he tried to act like his brief foray into the world of the benefit system was anything more than it was... a bit of money to tide him over. If he'd started cracking on that'd he had it hard.. that's when you should be getting your hair off.
But.. the money that people are saying Freddie has.. it is his parents money.. not his. He's lucky because he has a safety net that doesn't necessarily include the welfare system. He may never have to use the system again.. luckily for a moment he has seen what it is like to drag his arse to the Jobcentre, sign on and look for work and be ready to evidence it.
As for the money... I'm pretty sure daddy Freddie has contributed plenty enough into the system to cover it.
I don't know what the fuss is about... and I'm really not one who will keep quiet if I think the system is being abused.

I have no objections to anybody claiming what they are entitled to. But i do object to him and Bea begrudging Lisa the same. She as probably paid more taxes than him.
That's true....From what I've read Lisa has only been on the dole for a short period of time having worked and contributed to the system.
She seemingly has, but getting back to BB. I think you will find that it was Bea critising Lisa about being on the dole..not Freddie. He was nodding, as he usually does in his conversations with anyone. It doesn`t mean he agrees. He then said "You`re very good at putting down people down Bea."
Don`t tar him with the same brush.
OMG telling Bea who has paid thousands upon thousands in taxes that you claimed the dole for a few weeks. Scary Mary. Just nod I say.
Good heavens!

This thread is mostly a load of old shit (sorry to all the lovely FMs who took part)
Now I've stopped laughing, I'm gonna try and a make a point here
My point is that a person who hears and says "comprOnde", instead of ":comprEnde", could well have misheard the things Freddie said about dole money, and misinterpreted the way he said it. Just a thought........

On a more serious note, I've never seen such pathetic posturing, pouting and and stropping in all my life in a thread as in this one today. No matter what anyone thinks about Freddie's comment, no matter if you think it was ok to say, if you think it was very not ok to say, there is absoluetly NO need to go around accusing FMs of lying about their personal circumstances, demanding a better explanation of their domestic and financial situation because you didnt understand their post, which to be quite blunt, was as obvious as the nose on your face, and carrying on as if the world and every message board and FM should post the way YOU want them to, just to keep you happy.
I've seen smilies banded about to imply disbelief of FMs, of irritation with FMs, of implying people are crazy coz they dont agree with you. I've seen 2 women in particular posting here today who up to now have seemed like nice enough individuals even if I didnt always agree with their opinions. However I'm thinking today they must've been at the absynthe or they're being purposefully agressive.
I do like Freddie, but I also like David and the reason I use these two as an example is they are both so different. I do however see when both of them act out of line and wouldnt condone what I consider to be wrongful behaviour on either of their part. However I fail to see the need that people have had here to make this a personal issue. I've seen several FMs verbally attacked here today and I happen to like them all, so yes, I am angry by the childish behaviour I've seen directed at them. To their detractors, disagree with them if you want to, that's your right. But dont try to use bully boy tactics or ridiculing behaviour if you cant think of anything else to say/do.
To Scottie, KG, Tupps, Cologne and many more ............. HUGE HUGS You all rock

Ho-kaaaay ...... to you, darlin'!
and you are totally entitled to your opinion, as is everyone, as I said earlier! And we use the word compronde (which is actually not really a word is it?) at home whenever someones not listening properly You are not allowed to say comprende, as then nobody will listen to you!! It works too!quote:Originally posted by evviva!:quote:Originally posted by Little Miss Spurs:Im glad it made someone laugh, as it was lost in the argument, and no one picked up on it!! I hope all the people who have been backing him and are unfortunately out of work were impressed with his comment about Dole money being his "bit of pocket money" What a cretin! there are people out there who have been outa work for ages, due to the climate and their dole money is all they have to live on. Shame on him. IDIOT
i am not rich i have a son living with me and he cannot get work at the moment and i tell him to keep his dole for pocket money whats the problem with that ,i pay taxes so does his dad.as i am sure halfwits parents do,they should be entitled to claim ,
ive never claimed dole in my life neither has my husband ,and its not long untill we retire,
even when i took 10 years out to have my children,i claimed nothing ,freddy should be allowed to claim and spend it however he likes.
He did not say MY pocket money he said it was pocket money no doubt used for prsonal items...people do not live on ÂĢ40 a week they are entitled to many benifits on top of that IF they are NOT living at home! So let us get it straight...Never personally been on the dole at any time in my life but I would never be outraged by some one who has!.. chill out get things in perspective and have a good
i dont know if the last bit is directed at me but i was just trying to say that unemployed offspring of the rich or poor are entitled to claim benefits,
I always thought you had to have less than ÂĢ8k to qualify for any kind of benefits.
So if halfwit has a trust fund (maybe accessible with parents permission), would that mean he shouldn't get anything?
