Can anyone blame David for mishearing what was said? Taking in to account the aggression from Marcus and the fact they were arguing I can't blame him one little bit.

I think it was understandable that he mistook the word punk for punch.

Yes - BB did the same over the row with Sree - Marcus was asked to explain himself, yet David was the initial aggressor and no mention of his behavior was made.
And fair play to Marcus and David who both accepted it was a misunderstanding.
'after i punched you' doesn't make any sense though.not in the context of the conversation they were having.
