I would not Adam and Eve it, but not 100% sure about Darwin either. Love debating it, though.
Ask bea could be one of her topics for live feed
If, as some would have you believe, the world is approximately 12,000 years old, dinosaurs existed in that time... you'd think it would have been mentioned in the Bible at some point.
Who wrote the Bible anyways?
Adam & Steve maybe?
Darwinian but not much of a Dawkinsian.

Dawkins thinks he's the reincarnation of Darwin. I don't mind him, though - at least he's passionate about his subject.

Thanks fabienne, I had never heard of this Dawkins chap before.
He's a very fine writer and communicator but I disagree with some of the conclusions he reaches.quote:Originally posted by fabienne:quote:Originally posted by captain marbles:

Can you possibly put some of them in a nutshell captain?
Not really a question we should still be asking in the twenty first century
Bible - fairy tale
Evolution - credible theory with lots of evidence to back it up

Err....I'll give it a try lany. The main area where I depart from his thinking is that he seems to believe in the directionality of genetic development so everything moves from lesser to greater complexity. This also implies that genes themselves are moving in the direction of perfectabilty.
In other words he believes that evolution is moving in a progressive direction. I believe that there is no inherent direction to evolution and natural selection acts purely in response to the environment in which the organism finds itself.

......however there are still those who believe the Adam and Eve theory. I wonder what percentage of the population believe either theory?

Greater complexity does not equate with being "perfect", whatever that is
...not sure what you mean here captain ...where does that idea come from, never heard it before

So Darwins survival of the fittest theory sits well here too, would you say that natural selection is a result of the survival of the fittest organism within any given environment?

Given your well thought out comeback to it, I imagine Richard Dawkins is shitting it

Gosh captain you are very knowledgable on this subject, to what extent have you studied it and why are you 3 feet away from the bird bath?
I haven't studied it in a formal sense at all. I just find it fascinating.quote:Originally posted by lainy m:quote:Originally posted by captain marbles:In a word yes.quote:Originally posted by lainy m:quote:Originally posted by captain marbles:

I've got a bird bath just out side the window where I've got the pc parked. It's nice to watch them having a splash about.
