I enjoyed my pets too. I got a dog for my 5th birthday and he was my best buddy till he died aged 19. Thumbs Up

He had the best life. Total pampered pooch. He was a Heinz 57 as my mum used to say Big Grin

Actually pets were a big part of my growing up. We always had some kind or other. Cats, dogs, hamsters, budgies, snakes, rats, mice, fish. All my responsibility (except the snake, that was my brothers) and all totally pampered Big Grin
And me! Always had dogs and cats. Also had 2 rabbitts; Hoppity and Dusty Big Grin My dad built this huge run for them in the garden Big Grin They both lived till they were 10 years old, which was great for a rabbit I think Nod Also had guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils etc. Used to look after some of the rodents from School in the Holidays too Nod Remember I cried my eyes out for days after our dogs died. Were so part of the family! Crying

They definately were part of our family. The pets I have now are too. The reason I brought it up in this thread is because having a dog at that age meant I was always outside with him playing. I'd be on my bike and he'd be running along side and stuff. I didn't want to be inside playing with toys...even in the snow and rain.

I had one of those as well Big Grin

I was also obsessed with My Little Pony, I had 22 of them Red Face My favourite toys though were two teddy bears called Little and Tartan. Little was small and yellow and Tartan was, erm, tartan Laugh Years later when I was a teenager I covered Tartan with glitter and made him a feather boa and turned him into a Manics fan Red Face

oh they had catchphrases as well. Tartan's was 'tongs' and Little's was 'wee-wee.'

It's lucky I grew up to be so normal really Ninja

Dolls, oh yes...

When I was little, I had two dolls; one was Major Matt Mason, a cool astronaut doll (with a funny shaped head, but nobody's perfect Big Grin ). He had lots of adventures in a spaceship I made out of cereal boxes and toilet rolls...
The other one (which I bought with my own pocket money, and had to hide at my gran's house) was a secret agent doll called Havoc that was her codename, her real name was a secret only I knew...she had a black jumpsuit, a gun and a hand grenade. And she was about the same size, so she went in the spaceship occasionally too... Wink

I wish I'd kept them, they're collector's items now;
Major Matt
and
Havoc

She wasn't very popular, for some reason...There was supposed to be a whole series of them, including super-villains, but the idea never really caught on.
So mine had an astronaut for love-interest, and a very scary hand-knitted teddy bear to fight against... Big Grin

Two balls!!!!! Used to love playing that. Would play for ages. You just dont get kids playing that stuff anymore. Not around here, anyway. My kids stopped "Playing out" when they got to about 11. Afraid the computer etc got the better of them! Frowner

i used to play 2 balls at my nanas house and when she died we found the same 2 balls wrapped up in a drawer, i've kept them ever since, then a couple of years ago my daughter found them and asked me to show her how to do it, she then had a go and lobbed one of them onto the roof Mad

My teddy Bob, who I still have, Sindy, was never that keen on Barbie, and does anyone remember Daisy? She was around in the mid '70's, she was like Sindy, but a little bit younger and you could get all sorts of stuff for her.

I had a Daisy sticker book which I loved and I used to make up stories about the pictures, I can still remember one of the pictures, Daisy on an old fashioned gypsy caravan, in a ruffled gypsy skirt. I loved her.

Also loved Pippa dolls as you could take them everywhere, and I used to borrow my brothers Action man so that Daisy and Sindy would have a love interest.

Does anyone remember the old chemistry sets. My brother got one for christmas one year, it was his pride and joy. I was off school ill and bored so I went a gandering in my brothers room, found his secret hiding place. Decided to do some experiments with his chemistry set, have no idea what i put in the test tube, but it exploded and I ended up with 3 stitches in my hand. Didn't get pocket money for months as I had to replace the chemistry set.
