Just to focus on `fractional odds`, which are the sort we see mostly.
1/1 = is sometimes referred to as EVENS.
(It means if you put ÂĢ1 on and youre selection wins you would get ÂĢ1 back plus your stake. So you start with ÂĢ1 and end up with ÂĢ2.)
1/1 is the equivalent of saying "fifty-fifty" or "could go either way" or "not a clear cut choice".
2/1 = the result is a bit less certain
3/1 = even less certain
20/1 = very uncertain
100/1 = extremely uncertain or unlikely or anybody`s guess. These are called odds against.
Because the result is harder to predict your winnings are greater.
But when you get figures such as
1/2
1/3 etc
These are called "odds on" and you get less money back if you win because selecting the winner is easier.
The shorter these odds are (1/4; 1/5; 1/10; for instance) the more likely that your choice will win.
So Noirin`s odds shifting from 1/3 down to 1/8
indicates the betting money suggests it is getting even more likely that she will go.
Apologies if this has failed to help.
