again from channel 4

As you might have noticed, since Bea's arrival, Halfwit has been following her around like a lost puppy. The two initially hit it off well, sharing cigarettes and cuddles like two old pals. Halfwit even revealed to Siavash that he couldn't believe Big Brother had sent in someone that was 'so his type'.

Yet despite Halfwit telling anyone who'd listen that he was well into Bea, his affections were travelling along a one-way street. And over the past few days Bea has similarly been telling anyone who'll listen that she's pretty much had her fill of Halfwit.

Unsurprisingly, Bea has been conspicuous to Halfwit by her absense. Sharing a post-Task fag with Siavash, Halfwit discussed the fact that Bea had told him she needed 'more space', and that she'd been giving him a wide berth.

"She apologised for not talking to me," he told Siavash. "And I apologised for being insensitive, but she said I hadn't been insensitive. She said she was stressed, so maybe it's just the simplest reason."

"But her being stressed doesn't exlpain why she talks to other people and not me," continued Halfwit. Er, cos maybe it's not the reason?

"What do you think?" he asked Siavash.

"I don't know," said Siavash, who actually did know, as Bea had been chewing his ear off about her annoyance with Halfwit this morning. "Did you cop a feel?"

"No, no nothing like that," asserted Halfwit.

"Then maybe she is a bit tired," offered Siavash. "The new people are breaking down a lot quicker than we did. Two have left..."

But this was of no great interest to Halfwit. "Has Bea said anything to you or Noirin?"

"Just that she's stressed, and wants space," replied Siavash. "It's always good to have a chat."

Women, eh Halfwit? What do they really mean?

On a human level, I'm really disappointed with Bea as I thought she was cool and didn't see the manipulative and devious side of her that others spotted far more quickly than I.

But on an HM level, she's doing a great job of stirring it all up in there and generally causing high levels of paranoid behaviour amongst just about everyone.

Interesting that she steers very clear of The Ming, in all of her engineering Wink

i think she did, he dared to disagree with her and its like shes gonna make him pay for it.
It grieves me to agree with you both. She changed towards him after that conversation when he, staying totally true to himself in the manner that he has always been, didn't say what she wanted to hear.

I read her completely wrong.

She's cunning and rather sly and is getting away with it because she mostly does the dirty on a one to one basis. Smart move, because she then has total deniability.

the story continues

After finishing the Task and his chat with Siavash, Halfwit hit the Bedroom for a bit of lie down. Glum face on, duvet pulled up, he didn't look like the happiest of bunnies. So when Bea came into the Bedroom, he couldn't miss the chance for a quick chat with the woman who's been avoiding him like swine flu. But broaching the subject as to the reason for her wide berth of him, he possibly wasn't prepared for the answer.

"I find you draining," said Bea, after telling him that it was his late-night confession that he wasn't convinced by Noirin and Siavash that was the reason she'd not been talking to him. "You take on a lot of other people's problems."

"I'm glad you said something as I think you are off the mark," smiled Halfwit. "When I take on people's problems I find it... energising." Job at The Samaritans for you when you leave, then.

"I don't want to be massively harsh and critical," began Bea. "I pick up on stuff quite easily. I'm a vibe sponge."
A what?!

"I've been down so I'm not relying on anyone to bring me out of that. But I am trying to keep my resources cos I need them. So someone coming up and taking that... if I need them I'm going to hang on to them."

Aahhh, now we get it. At first read you might think Bea is referring to her time, her ears or her understanding. But twice today she's moaned to both Siavash and David about Halfwit nicking all her baccy, so really, maybe this is her coded mesage to Halfwit to stop smoking her fags.

"I haven't not wanted to talk to you," she told him. No, just stay away from her smokes, Halfwit.

"It's complimentary that you wanted to talk to me," continued Bea. "It's something I predicted. People like to confide in me. I'm a person people tell a lot of things to. But it's quite emotionally burdoning. There's only so much you can take. If I wasn't experiencing my own stresses in here, I'd be well up for listening. But I'm going to have to be selfish with my resources."

Eager to please as ever, Halfwit kinda missed the point. "I want to be part of the relaxation rather than the stress. There are other people I can talk to. I'll keep it light," he said.

"I don't like the idea of a fake romance either," said Bea, getting back to their original topic of conversation, Noirin and Siavash. "Romance is dear to my heart. Doing it for money, that goes against my morals." She was about to go on - though not in a harsh or critical way, remember? - when Noirin came in.

"Noirin," said Bea, embarrassed. But Noirin wasn't even aware she was being talked about.

"Hmm? What?" she called over.

"Hmm. Nothing. Didn't say anything," said Bea sheepishly.

"You said Noirin," said Noirin, unconcerned.

"No it wasn't me. Must have been outside," said Bea.

It's a good job you're the only vibe sponge in the House Bea, otherwise Noirin might not be so unconcerned.

She's only been showing other HMs any interest recently and she was still beside him in bed last night. He's not too dim to realise, he's been mulling it over.

abit annoyed thatS iavash didn't tell Freddie straight out. He's been very vocal in he past about Tom and the beer and Norin and the whole rabit talk.

Dosn't surprise me at all.

How come?

He's put his two cents in before, why not now? Confused

I really liked Siavash but he's acting like a fool with all this Noirin fakery. And even if it's not fake on his part, Bea straight out told him that Norin was using him afew nights ago. I thought he was onto her. Roll Eyes

That passed my mind Nod

I don't think Freddy is cottoning on to her ways. He is way too nice to think anything bad of someone he regards as a friend - he is loyal to a fault.
