At the beginning of LF we get quite long advert breaks, but later on in the night, when they are all sleeping, the advert breaks are very short. Obviously we need to see them sleeping more

The earlier on in LF the more viewers.. advertising space would be more sought after and provide more revenue.
The later on in LF the less viewers.. advertising space wouldn't be so sought after (in fact they probably couldn't give it away ).

Some of them are just for C4 progs and then back to the show so they obviously can't.
that goes for all channels, in fact most don't put any adverts on in the early hours

well if you believe one of the lies ch4 gives about the live feed you'd think they wouldnt be able to give advertising away at any time.

It's funny.. C4 have axed LF during the recession and by doing so cut off a source of funding through advertising. I can't imagine that broadcasting LF is more costly than the revenue they'd get through advertising.

Which totally defeats the object of axing live feed during the day really. I love the way C4 thinks

I don't know, but C4 are in a bit of a financial hole all round. Ad spend is down a third this year so maybe they are using the revenue to do generate for other things.
The red button channel must have some cost of carridge on whatever platfrom, so maybe they make more by just using E4 instead.

ahh.. well, they could have hoiked off a few re-runs of Friends off E4 and stuck LF in instead.. but that would be tooo logical..

Plus they broadcast some US import during the morning and then repeat it two hours later. Do they think we are so limited that we need to see it twice to be able to follow what's happening.

Not really as they probably get (or think they get) more viewers for The Gilmore Girls, OC, friends repeats etc. The more viewers they can claim the more they charge for ad time.
