I got a huge document yesterday from my renal consultant about what to do if I suspect I have swine flu, and what will happen. Some of the other patients were complaining about it, but I pretty much expected everything that the document said.
As soon as the vaccine becomes available, I'll be first in the queue!

it's stupid - completely over the top - I wanted information on something totally unrelated as well and couldn't get it!!
It wasn't about your bum was it?
??????
Well if you couldn't find it online then you would have had to speak to someone and that would have been tres embarrasing

Well, I think I've got it. Now what?
Sorry, what I meant was, Saturday evening, not sure if I have it or not and don't want to burden the NHS.
No ambulance/taxi service then tonight darlin
Nope, but if I'm not on here tomorrow have a Remy on me.
Cologne don't scare me pls....if you feel really unwell get medical help pronto.
I'll leave it until tomorrow, it's probably just a cold and NHS Direct are busy, but I promise if I feel worse in a few hrs. I will call my surgery.

I've got to admit it's starting to scare me a bit. I have ME so ususally get offered flu jabs anyway but now I'm also 8 months pregnant so I'm extra vulnerable. I was at the hospital on Friday and had to go to the hospital pharmacy to pick up a prescription. There were loads of people in there coughing and spluttering without covering their mouths. My hubby insisted I went and sat in the car while he sat in the tiny unventilated waiting room for 30 mins while the prescription was made up. It doesn't seem to matter how much the media hype it up, it's not stopping irresponsible people helping the bliddy thing to spread.
But that just highlights how the media are scaring you - on any ordinary day particularly this time a year there would be many people sneezing and coughing (I am one of those) yet because the media are scaring you so much it instantly makes you believe that it is swine flu when in reality there is probbly only a small chance of you catching it!!

I know what you mean. When we were having the scans I was desperate to know and I was gutted when we couldn't find out. But now it is quite exciting not knowing whether we're having a son or a daughter. The shopping situation is getting annoying though.

Me too ...err.... Ev! Good to see you.
You'll get used to it
Really good to see you too, Kaff
until you have had swine flu, you dont really know what to expect..I was diagnosed Friday, tho I think it was in my system before then and Saturday I was completely floored with it and I dont drink, smoke and walk a lot so I was lucky to just get one horrendous day and not more..this flu is like no other, it attacks your system, even your teeth, so if you re worried, ring up the helpline...swineflu affects everyone in a different way, I am glad I got a 2nd opinion and I am glad I made a big drama of it all or I may not have got the treatment I needed

what about the little girl who died of it? I think it right that we should know these things and if the only way is through the media, so be it
yeah of course reporting facts is one thing - but they don't just do that they dramatise things, they add their own little spin on things and basically jst frighten ppl!!
I know what you are saying hev and I can understand your frustration, my Mama has diabetes and it does worry me that she may catch it and I have not seen her since Friday and will not see her until the weekend, thats how much it worries me..

Anyone heard from cologne? She was feeling bad and hasn't been on since last night I don't think.
Here I am, I have been issued with tamiflu and steroids. I feel pretty awful and try to sleep as much as I can. Thanks for thinking of me Kaffy.
Awww jeez! Get well soon, cologne.
I was mainly concerned about my breathing, I couldn't get out of bed even without being completely breathless, but the stuff seems to be working and I've got my inhalers. My daughter has taken Buddy home with her because I find it difficult to look after him in the moment, she's also cooked some meals, so I can just concentrate on getting better. I have to say, I wouldn't wish it on anybody. I certainly floored me.
Glad the meds are working, don't push yourself, just rest up. Take care, hun.xx
