I'm exactly the same, plus I can put up with daddy longlegs who can actually fly into you and so come a lot closer, whereas spiders always run a mile. There's no rhyme or reason with a phobia.

Send him my way, I love spiders

got any fly/bug spray? spray the crap out of it. As it runs out smack it with a shoe to be humane too

I was ironing earlier and a spider the size of a bloody cup crawled out of a t shirt while it was on the ironing board, I burnt myself. Hubby saved it and put it outside, I just know it's going to come back in.

Since childhood I've had an intense phobia of spiders, too many personal stories to tell of my experiences with them. Atm I have another bug in the house, a really huge flying beetle, cats have tried to catch it but it's run under the settee. Hubby does nightwork and I can't wait till he gets home and hopefully deal with it as I can't, feet up off the floor atm

Yesterday I was expecting a visitor to my house, someone I hadn't met previously. Just before he was due to arrive, I saw a hugh black spider moving about on the armchair where he would be sitting.

It takes me ages to move and before I had managed to get to the chair to remove said spider, there was a knock at the door and the visitor had arrived. I was too late.

I sat there for the duration of his visit absolutely transfixed, part of me hoping the spider would crawl onto him as I wanted to see his reaction, and the other part of me was hoping the spider would lie low in case he panicked and jumped up with a hot cup of tea in his hand and ended up scalding himself.

my feet are off the floor as well i blame my mum and my nana before her, they are also scared of thunder and lightening which i'm not, the spider thing makes me sick, even typing thr word sends shivers down my back

There was one crawling around the other day near my feet but it was little , one day on WTD forum there was a big one that kept crawling near me on the bedroom wall and I created a thread about it .

my daughter used to carry huntsmans (in Oz) around in her dolly pram & pick them up & walk around the yard with them. It's not eh big ones you have to worry about. It's the tiny ones

Keep your feet up! Years ago I was sitting with bare feet and I lifted my foot up as I felt something on my toe. There was this large black beetle on the end of my big toe. I shook my foot to get it off but it seemed stuck. I got hold of it with my fingers and to my horror it was eating into my toe!

ok enough now i could never live in oz

we had an electric hedge trimmer & I thought a little bit of the hedge had got stuck just inside the airy bit (hard to explain) so I pulled it out not thinking anything of it. A couple of days later a red back was on the hallway wall missing a leg. Oops

I know someone who brushed her teeth, then put the toothbrush back in the holder and noticed a beetle stuck in amongst the bristles....I always check my brush before loading it with toothpaste now.

Yesterday I was on the phone to my sister and not really concentrating.
At the same time putting water in my spiders (tarantula) bowl, I put my hand in there still chatting and the next thing it lunged after me.
I got my hand away just in time, while throwing the phone across the bedroom.

I recommend tweed socks.

I see spiders in my house regularly as its an old house.
Don't mind as long as they're not in my bedroom.
If I see one there its a gonner.

On holiday in Lanzarote one year, went into the bathroom to brush my teeth, big full size mirror on the wall above the sinks, in the reflection the bathroom door was covered in giant cockroaches.
I nearly had a heart attack.

I don't want to worry you all but my sister cracked me up with something she told me a few years back. There was this spider she caught and put outside, it came back time and time again and in the end she hit it and threw it out again and it came back and died on her stairs She said she could tell it was the same one as it had a little brown mark on it.

We found a huge tarantula type one on the bedroom this morning. Thankfully the OH got him and put him outside

i have a grudge against spiders, they wait until i manage to get a g/f home and i am being cool ,urbane and interesting and then they appear turning me into a quaking mass of jibbering uncoolness.
screaming and pointing ' get the hoover!' and hiding behind a door...
