So make sure you have enough
well I am on my own most of the time, i thought I would use one whn go to supermarkets, stuff like that. i ordered 50 as they come in packs that size any way. heard some medical people say they don;'t work yet they say it prevents germs getting out from the person who has it, so onctradiction there. Plus why then do doctors and nurses wear them if they don't work!! Would have thought could get them free as on a penion and cheaper than treating me in hospital I would have thought!!

I sympathise for you all. I just googled. they cost ÂĢ19 for 50 but then vat and postage. others are very very expensive. I was thinking I can't afford any really but then cost a lot more if I get sick trying to get help to look after my dogs which are my major concern always.. hope you and yours get better soon..XX

I think we were told by the World Health Organisation that it was 10ft to be infected from the person.
Also, wash hands a lot and normal hygene advice.

I think maybe you should go and dicuss your worries with your doctor, as i have a faulty immune system too, unfortunatley, i have to work, and poss amongst people that have it. SO far i have been lucky, but i work hard to maintain my immune system. Only had one cold this year and that was a cple weeks ago.
Also Manuka Honey is brilliant for the immune system. Expensive, but worth it, it has worked for me this year.

I've got M.E. too hun, so I don't think you're being a wuss. Hug My hubby's worried about me going into hospital to have the baby because of the flu risks. Personally, I'm more worried about the giving birth bit. Laugh

It sounds as though you are doing the right thing, prevention is better than cure Hug

I'm in the same boat as you forgetmenot re the ME and living alone and now the lung problems as well. I too scared of who will look after the cats if I end up in the hospital so I have some masks already (only the disposable paper ones from medisave.co.uk)my problem is remembering to wear them hairdresser came last week to trim my hair and now have a doozy of a cold which has made me feel awful, I think we have to do what is best for us Wink

what is antibac please? disenfectant wipes or something like that?
there was a bad virus around her earlier in the year that dogs get, parvo virus, whicvh is highly contagious and can be fatel. I had a foot dip out side my house and washed my hands if been anywhere, it can even be carred on car tyres. my efforts paid off as all my dogs remained healthy so i think any thing is worth trying re this flu and and any other infection for that matter.
My local hopsital is constantly being closed down becuase of infections, worse place to go near even, bt i am sure if people were more careful about hand washing etc, it would not be any where as near as bad!!

It's that antibacterial gel Forgetmenot... you can buy it in any supermarket or chemist.... it's the stuff you can use when you are not able to wash your hands. I think it is similar to what they use in hospitals, but i am not sure. I don't think it works against viruses, just bacteria, but every little helps Big Grin

I am just getting over swine flu! I have no idea how I caught it but it could have been at Kos airport waiting for a 10 hour delayed flight along with thousands of others packed into a very small and hot place! It has lasted just over a week and is very similar to ordinary flu - aches and pains, runny nose etc. I also had diarhoea for the fist couple of days. The worse part for me was the persistent, dry cough that has bruised all my insides and I feel like I have done 10 rounds with Mike Tyson.

I haven't left the house for 8 days! I have heart disease so was a little scared but it doesn't seem to have left any effect on that!

I honestly think think that the media are making far too much of this flu - but people with breathing difficulties will probably be far more affected.
