yeah theyre not even counting cases now as they are advising people just to stay home unless they are old, young or have health problems so the true figure is going to be way higher than they report

Lets face it, by the time you realise that youve got it, youve probably given it to half a dozen people.I work with the elderly and like a hospital its a risky area.Maybe i shouldnt go to work 'just in case' Nod

I hsve got it. I was diagnosed yesterday and put on a course of tamiflu.

I feel bloody awful, t's like a really bad chest infection and the aches and pains are unbeliveable. I'm supposed to go to the hospital next week to have my wrist checked but have been told to stay in for at least a week and I'm bored already. Don't even know where I caught it from, because there hasn't been a lot of problems round here. My husband has also got to stay at home for a few days as if he has got it, in his job (taxi driver) he could pass it on to other people so we are driving each other mad at the moment. Thank heavens for the internet and forums!!!

Apologies if this is a bit of a silly question.

I don't think they know mary hun, my doc said new guidelines were coming out every day based on the statistics of 112 surguries around the country.
Pinkbabe has been put on Tamiflu yet my doc wants his patients to "ride with it" and build up some immunity because they are expecting a bad epidemic in the Autumn when colds and flu are more prevalent.

A couple of hundred thousand die worldwide from flu or complications thereof every year.

Swine flu is no different...some people will have it mildly, others will be worse...some people will die, most will not.

Some people will also say that its worse than normal flu cos they've never actually had normal flu and mistake colds for flu...

So true, I always said I had flu TIL I HAD FLU!

Then I would say a cold Blush

Used to make me laugh people being off work sick for 2 days with flu!!

If it was real flu it would be at least a week if not more!!

I spent 9 days in my bed I honestly thought I was dying.

Well, Im in Hemel, quite nearby and we got a letter home from School yesterday to say theyve had one case there. I dont care if I AM going over the top, but Im keeping my youngest at home next week. (her sis and bro finished already coz theyve done their exams) Dont see the point in risking it for the sake of 3 days at School. My mate told me she's keeping hers off too, and I know they wont be the only ones.

It was classed as a Pandemic several weeks ago. At first they seemed to be able to contain it but now they've lost control of it.

It's been forecast that soon there will be 100.000 cases a day, I can't remember any flu viruses in the past affecting thast many per day but could be wrong. Those that have it now could be building immunity for the future if it gets worse. Maybe it's a bit like when mothers are told to let their child catch measles from another child while young to prevent complications from it later in life

Without wishing to trivialise it, I actually would rather have it now than in the winter when it is supposed to become more severe.

Moomin, people who have the virus now, may still catch it later on in the year. Such is the nature of the Swine Flu. So honestly, I wouldn't put faith in all this talk of building up immunities.

My guess is that it will escalate further.

I will be wearing an MJ mask to the match Red Face
OMG! Didnt think of that Eeker

If your name is anything to go by you are a either a Spurs fan or like horseriding.

If it's the former, then you will be exposed to some of the biggest crowds and travelling support of most clubs.
Stock up on Tamiflu !!

My daughters english teacher has it..and shes displaying flu symptoms.Bad headache, dizzy, nauseous, tired lethargic. If she has got it(and we've been told to assume so)she was far more poorly with tonsillitis last year.Shes not actually bed ridden,so seems to not be one of the worst affected.
Its now considered endemic in the country...which is why labs are no longer testing for swine flu itself.Unless someones really poorly, they will be treated as tith any other viral illness...rest,paracetamol and plenty of fluids. The illness should peak after 3 days or so,though the achy limbs might persist...then there a period of recovery which will last from 7 days up depending on how ill you've been.
Pink babe ,you sound like one of the unluckier ones to feel so ill.Hope you recover soon
A vaccination programme is going to start in the next few weeks as the Dept of health now have sufficient stocks for all.It will start with the vulnerable and front line workers.
