CHANNEL 4 is in hot water after becoming embroiled in a new phone voting scandal.
Big Brother bosses face a public backlash after they put up the SAME telephone number for Kris and Marcus on the BB website. The pair are up for eviction this Friday alongside Freddie, Charlie and Sophie.

Confused fans thought they were voting for Kris, but instead voted for Marcus.

Fans voiced their anger on internet chat forums. Many called for a full refund for all those who had voted. Others have reported the error to Phonepay Plus, the phone services regulator.

One fan wrote, "This is a disgrace. People have been wasting their money on the wrong person."

well of course they do, even the "LIVE FEED" is edited there is a 15 - 20 min delay, so that they can hack out any bits they dont want us to see,

‘Lost Obsessive’ an FM on DS discovered the mistake at 19.53
DS FM’s contacted the Sun.

The DS FM’s should be congratulated. ‘Lost Obsessive’ also has screen shots of the wrong numbers in case C4 back track.

We've been here before, and there's absolutely no need to abandon the eviction, especially as the problem occurred (and was corrected) so early in the voting process.

As with previous, similar cock-ups, all they need to do is discount any votes cast before the problem was corrected, and offer those voters their money back. All votes cast after the correction should be fine.

I think the real question is: are C4 big enough to hold their hand up on this one?

honestly, no not at all, i dont enjoy scripted drama shows in general and thats what bb is without a full live feed but here and ds allow me to find out about the bits that ch4 do show and frankly its often posted here a lot faster than i've seen people commenting that its reported on the ch4 webshite (which i also avoid).

It sounds like the error is pure (typical) incompetence rather than any Machiavellian scheming as the producers virtually set Kris (and Charlie and Sophie) up for potential eviction; they could have punished them for talking about nominations in a thousand ways other than "automatically being up for eviction" should they open their daft gobs in the designated time-frame. Seemed to me that they knew that they would fail and thus be up.

To be honest I hardly think it was deliberate. C4 cannot afford to get into a scandal on purpose, they really don't have the money for the Offcom fines.

However, they really should be extra careful before putting numbers up after previous errors.

But even doing that will still leave a question mark over whether the result on Friday is trully what it should have been. As you cannot guarantee that all the voters of discounted votes will vote again and you cannot assume that no-one makes mistaken votes AFTER the website was corrected. Some may have noted the number from the website while it was wromg, to vote later.
