Some of you may remember me telling you about the palaver I've had with my midwives who keep ignoring everything I say about having really bad pelvic pain and insisting that it was 'normal'. Well, I finally saw my GP today and he agreed that it doesn't sound 'normal' and he thinks I have SPD. Anyway, he's now referred me to the hospital physio to be fitted for a belt. He's also told me that he can give me something for my hayfever, when the midwife said he couldn't. Stupid bliddy midwives would have left me in agony if I hadn't insisted on seeing the GP. Anyway,at least it looks as though I'll be feeling a bit better soon.

It is pretty normal to have bad pelvic pain in the latter stages though.
Nice one, Queenie.
glad you've got through to them
people can be too quick to fob you off.

Yay free belt!! Hope it helps Queenie 'cos unfortunately it's just going to get worse
Although I'm miffed about the hayfever , they refused me anything
They also refused me painkillers in labour so make sure you are ready for that

I`m glad they`re doing somehing to help, Queenie. I hope you`re feeling more comfortable, in the very near future.

I know, but I've had this since the end of the first trimester. I can hardly walk with it and when I do I look like John Wayne. It kills me trying to get comfy at night and going up stairs, which isn't good when you live in a four storey house. The midwife just kept saying that I was only in the early stages (25 weeks!) and therefore I couldn't really be in pain. Then she tried to tell me that because SPD is so rare (it isn't) that it was more likely that my arthritis had spread to my pelvis???!!!
When I had my last one I had to support most of my weight on the rails to go up and down stairs!

I remember way back when i had lil gyps my midwife was a uselless peice of poo. I had really bad piles and with all the pain of after child birth that was by far the worst pain, i couldnt sleep or lie in ANY position without crying with pain. Her advice was to get some fresh air on them i had visions of me other half driving me round while i stuck my arse out the window
silly bint, my O.H went to the chemist and hey presto there was very cheap and easy cream that took the pain away after i had suffered for about 3 days.

There's like a bum squeezy thing you can do for pelvic instability...I you sort of clench your butt and thigh muscles and it can help push things in the right place.
The physio might teach you it...dunno how different the congenital thing is from SPD.
Best of luck xx

My SPD cleared up as I got more heavily pregnant.Thank God.I was a highrisk pregnancy,so was directly under the consultant. The junior docs used to come out, pick up my notes, flick through them and tell me to sit down again! But it did mean I got seen quickly and got my belt quickly. They didnt offer me physio because once the baby comes it disappears.
LOL@ Gypsie and the piles

Glad you have finally got something sorted QT
Also when I had my first, the hospital gave me voltarol suppositories which were absolutely wonderful at giving pain relief down below.Ask for them if you're very bruised/sore after.

Thanks for the tip.
I had one of those belts with my last baby. Its not the most attractive thing i've seen or worn but it did sort out the pelvic pain. Good luck with the physio.

The other thing..I had my third at the local community hospital(where the midwives were excellent) and they would run us camomile baths which were very soothing,so pack some camomile and lavender oils when you go(am sure they've told you not to use lavender oil while your pregnant as it can start labour....which is a pain as its great for getting you to sleep).
Glad you're sorted with the belt.It should help loads
Thanks for the tip.
I hope things improve for you soon.
