I have a real problem with eggs. They are made inside a chicken then come out her vagina. Is that not just gross? Some how I can push this aside, and I do eat eggs. Is that what meat eaters do? Push aside the fact it's a corpse and get on with it? If I can push the digustingness aside and eat a chicken's period, I wonder why I can't do with with meat.
Eggseptionally good

Yes and no, in a way yes you do, but in another way no you don't I mean if it were not for the fact that people eat meat, and farmers are more consciensious (i really need to learn how to spell that word), many rare breeds that are now coming back into prospetity would have died out entirely.
Human beings were designed as omnivores, they have canine teeth to rip apart the meat and then they have molars to crush vegetation etc.
I can understand that people feel the need to not eat meat, and that is more than fair enough, it is their choice, but it is also the choice of people to carry on eating meat, which is their right too.
Anyway, much as I can see the point of view of vegetarians and even vegans, I couldn't be one, because I would miss the taste of a really good steak, from a healthy well bred, well looked after cow, and the taste of a delicious lamb joint roast to perfection, with garlic and rosemary and lashings of mint, or a proper bacon sarnie the morning after the night before, or some crunchy pork crackling.
Thanks for the big answer, but really the last thing I want is a debate on veggieness I just wonder if meat eaters block out entirely while eating that it's part of an animal like I have to do with eggs?
The second I became totally aware that meat was an animal I cut it out completely overnight and I wonder why my brain can't cope with that fact, while most others can?

LOL I just noticed your sig
Sorry Tartan
Blame me hangover, I didn't mean to rant
I don't think I even think about it, although I do find myself thinking mint sauce when I walk past a field of sheep

LOL it was, although at my age i should realise that staying out til it is daylight again is going to write me off for the week
I tried joining the Children of the Quorn. I gave up meat for a whole fortnight and ate nothing but veggie stir-fries, curries and pasta dishes.
I even tried tofu and quorn (which is nothing like meat) but after a while life seemed bland, joyless and repetitive and I got quite depressed so I returned to my carnivorous ways and everything started to look sunny again, the flavour was back in my life.
I think that giving up meat is a bit like
giving up cigarettes, easier said than done
for some people. Perhaps they ought to invent
meat patches that you can stick on your arm or meat flavoured chewing gum to beat off the cravings.
Mmmmm... Roast Chicken and gravy with roast potatoes, just the thought of it makes me drool.
Eggs are delicious too, boiled, fried, poached, scrambled or made into a lovely omelette.

OMG you have just described my life! I need to eat meat, but how how how???
Given what you've said earlier, that's a toughie....and I'm afraid I have no easy answer for you. In fact I don't have one at all!quote:Originally posted by Tartanveggie:

Thanks anyway, Fluffers! I did once go see a hypnotherapist for past life regression and wondered if I should go back to help me eat meat. I thought about it so much that I eventually thought, dammit, I am in control of my own self, go and eat meat! And I did I bought a chicken sandwich and had a bite. I also tried gammon that week and a tiny bit fish. And that was it *sigh*
I am a life-long meat eater and so it is easy not to think about the fact I am eating part of a dead animal whilst I am eating it. And if I started thinking that way it would obviously put me off. But I respect my food and where it came from. I want to believe that the animal/bird/fish was reared decently. I hate the idea of buying to excess and throwing food away. I was brought up in a Christian family and it was usual to say grace before each meal. I know that Jesus was happy to eat fish - think of the feeding of the five thousand for instance. So it is possible to be a meat eater and to be ethical about it.
I know that other people have different views and I accept them - I would not want to say that my view is right and that their view is wrong, and anyway I have vegetarian meals from time to time.
There are people who are vegetarian through ethical considerations, or through health reasons. But Tartanveggie, you seem to be saying that you are vegetarian more through aversion to the thought of eating meat. If that is the case and you want to be able to eat meat, then hypnotherapy or aversion therapy could well be the answer. I think it's a case of trying to replace the negative thoughts with positive or at least neutral thoughts.

Why do you need to eat meat?
You were spot on about the eggs *shudders*
If you became Tartan'meatandtwoveg' then TV or veggie would still be appropriate.
Actually I've worked out that you don't need to change your name as long as sometimes you eat a meat tart with veg. then you would be "Tart an' veggie".
