She is slower than the norm and I feel sorry for the woman. All she has wanted to do is sing and it is dreadful that she is getting all this flak. I mean, it's not as if the poor woman has killed someone.

I agree that it is dreadful! It's also ironic too because she started singing as a small child as a way of coping with all the bullying she got at school. The bullying continues now because of her singing. Frowner

I don't dislike her, I just think she has been hyped up, OK that's not her fault but the show is not all about her, there are other contestants, who in my opinion are much better talented than her.

I always get the impression you are not overkeen on women in general. I mean tonight you have started 2 threads slagging off women, has a women hurt you in the past?

It reflects more though about those who are judgemental, petty, mean mouthed and narrow minded than it does about her. All she wants to do is sing and be recognised for that and not for other things. However it comes about, BGT or not, I hope she gets a chance to achieve that.

I think it's a shame that people cannot dislike Susan Boyle without being accused of adding to her bullying, or picking on her because of the way she looks.

No one says that kind of thing if it's any other act getting slated, like Nick Hell for instance. I mean he clearly wasn't on the same level as most people, that was evident by his act, but no one attacked anyone who didn't like him.

The level of interest Ms Boyle has had to endure must be extremely difficult to cope with. However, I do find myself sick of all the hype and not warming to the woman one iota.

I don't think she's the best thing ever to come out of BGT, I'd put Stavros Flatley, Julian Smith, Shaun, Flawless and indeed 2Grand above her.

I don't think she's going to win, not on talent and not on popularity. I'm saddened that she's pretty much the only candidate in the news, it's been a patronising load of pap right off the bat.

Good Heavens Georgina - you'd put 2Grand above Susan Boyle? Eeker

I'd really like Julian Smith to win - his saxophone playing was superb but, whatever the outcome, I sincerely hope he does well in the future.

Such a dilemma really 'cos I also like Flawless, Diversity and Stavros Flatley. If only they could all win!

The level of interest, and therefore the level of pressure, is far greater on Susan Boyle due to her worldwide profile than on any previous talent show contestant I can remember.
I hope she performs, as I believe she is truly talented, but I would rather she retired to her home with some good memories if her mental health is in danger as Piers Morgan seems to think.
captain marbles
I heard her sing and can't really understand what all the fuss is about. She's got a nice enough voice, but no better than thousands of other people's.

I think the whole issue is that people are surprised that someone so plain can (a)get on telly at all, and (b) carry a tune.
Why shouldn't she be able to? Being ugly doesn't make someone incapable of singing. Confused

She's being patronised and treated like some kind of lovable curiosity by that show, as if she should be humbled and grateful for all the attention she gets, poor cow.

Now people are surprised that actually, she reserves the right to be as stroppy, bad-tempered and egotistical as anyone else.

Exactly Nod I think people expect her to be humble & grateful & obsequious.

But it's seems obvious (to me) that the woman definitely has a temper Disappointed I'll even go so far as to say I believe that - if pushed - she's probably capable of serious aggression too.

The most talented person on the show got voted off tonight - the little jungle book boy

Spot on - trouble is he was a happy kid with talent - didn't have a sob story - this is my last chance of fame Boo Hoo - My wife has died and I want this to honour her - Boo Hoo.

The saxophonist was OK but there are thousands of musicians as good if not better playing in bands and orchestras all around the world - he could make a very good living but he wants to be famous - waste of time.

I wouldn't say the wee lad was the most talented. He was great but he has years ahead of him yet to make it. Julian, on the other hand, although still young, probably hasn't. I also think he was by far the best last night.

I thought 2Grand were good and it was lovely to see the pair of them. She actually has a lovely voice Nod I wouldn't put them above Susan though.

OH THANK GOD - at last someone that can articulate exactly how I feel. Thumbs Up I got roasted on another post for answering a fanatical Susan fan - whilst I feel sorry for her and anyone that is targeted by the media, going into a competition shows that she and all the other contestants are looking to become famous. Fame is a double edged sword and I think Ms. Boyle (regrettably) is finding this out now. You cannot just turn it on and off at will. I wish the woman no harm but am thoroughly sick of having her name mentioned EVERY night on the BGT show - just not fair.
H
I feel sorry for this woman we build her up then knock her down what has she done that is so wrong, it is not her fault that the media built her up world wide, allegedly the media was giving her hassle and she snapped days before the final may I add,I am not saying she is my winner but having said that I would be happy for her if she did win like I would another three of the acts ,she has got so much pressure put on her by the media which obviously now could be the making or breaking of her .
Marguerita
I am pretty sure that the media - including the producers of this show (and that includes Simon Cowell) can exert enormous pressure on people to do certain things and behave in a certain way.
Simon Cowell`s shows always have a lot of set-up situations and contrivance in them, most of which I cannot believe is natural behaviour by the participants.
I am sure they find themselves under a lot of pressure.
I am sorry for anybody who gets trapped in these situations (the media is powerful), but I try to see past it and through it.
Talent wise I think Susan Boyle is mediocre, and I don`t like her voice very much.
brisket
The poor woman was starved of oxygen at birth and that left some brain damage and consequently learning difficulties, for which she was bullied at school. She had lived all her live in a small Scottish village caring for her mother and the only thing she could do was sing. She`s come on to BGT and been praised by everyone and then this week the press have suddenly turned against her.

Piers Morgan said that she doesn`t know how to react because she`s never been in this type of situation before, consequently her reactions are out of character because that`s how she thinks they should be, that`s why we get the shimmies etc.

I feel sorry for her, I thought her voice at the first audition was amazing, semi final only so so with a shaky start, but Amanda said today she was singing her song from the first show in the final. I`d be happy if she wins but I really, really, really want Stavros Flatley to win Big Grin
