What is a Suprise Cake?

I've just been down to the kitchen at work and on the table was a slab of what looked to me like home made Butterscotch, but my boss said his wife said it wasn't that but something called Suprise cake. It looks yoummy and he said "have some if you want some", what do you think it could be?

I think its something like, it could look like a plain cake but when you cut into it there is chocolate cake inside.....

Not very suprising, the suprise was it had ginger in it, it was lovely though, thick and sticky with a lovely crumbly pastry, quite sweet as well, I'd recommend it!
