Just seen it on the lunchtime news Orchid.
Quite close to the Cape VerdÃĐ Islands I believe which is notorious for bad weather.
Looks like it must have gone down within about 3 hours of leaving Rio de Janeiro.

Croc`s link on page 12 says mainly the same. Do you ever reply to posts foobar? You question yet don`t respond to posts. I don`t mean to be rude but what`s the point in replying to you if you don`t.
I'm confused by your post scotty.
Foobar clearly responded to posts. He replied to a post of yours for instance and others in this thread.
Where? I`m sorry I really don`t mean to be rude Penelope. I`ve read back...no direct reply to anyone. He/she questioned me on my radio contact post which I apologised for because I may have misinterpreted Sky News wording. I got no reply that I can see. Surely if you ask such important question, it deserves an answer.
Btw I like foobar.
I guess many, if not most of them will never be found!
There was an article in one of the papers saying a Woman had been ringing her Husbands phone and it was still ringing out....

yes i saw your radio contact post on page 13? and he asked about that and you replied, i read your reply and it didn't seem to need any reply, so maybe foobar read it and that was that.
You're not being rude to me scotty so no need for an apology, i was simply confused by your post.
OMG - have just heard on the radio that 3 young female Irish doctors were on the plane, all about 26yrs old, one of them is from my area in Dublin, her dad is a doctor too and is apparently distraught!! I am so shocked...its all too sad.

I understand Penelope, but I did think it required a reply because I felt awful for maybe getting getting it wrong. I would have liked an acknowlodgement (sp) of my apology. I`m so petulant today...it`s a menopausal thing.
Thankyou for your kind response.

Absolutely Kaytee, I just happened to mention the three Irish girls because one of them lives literally a mile away from me and I was listening to the radio when I was posting here. But I 100% agree with you..its just dreadful and my heart breaks for the families and the poor souls that were on the plane

Quite.
I mentioned the Brazilians simply because that's where I live therefore it's those names that have been released here. It was simply a comment as to the calibre of some of the people who were lost, including renowned scientists, academics and a member of the Brazilian royal family.

I just wanted to clarify why I was focusing on Brazilians. Does anyone know if a full passenger list has been released?

Yes, that is tragic but I am sure it would have been equally tragic had there been people who had not passed any big exams on the plane

Not as far as I'm aware...but I haven't caught up with the latest news

Of course. We don't have an awful lot of people here who have passed 'big exams'.quote:Originally posted by ~Orchid~:

I really don`t know how to respond to that comment. Therefore I won`t.
I did hear that there were children and a baby on board and that the majority of passengers were Brazilian and French, but that's all so far

Not quite sure what's going on here but I'd rather just not bother contributing any more to the thread than end up in a row over which deaths in a tragic accident are more important.
Its natural for people to empathise more with 'local' news. Its a way of making a tragedy more pertinent to us.Maybe not the best place for humour, but I remember a Not the Nine O'Clock news sketch which went along the lines..
Tonights headline.A british man has been injured in an accident in London.
Also tonight.2 British people were slightly injured in an explosion in Greece.35 other people also died.
And finally 5,000 people have been killed when Mount Blah erupted.None of them were British
Of course, any deaths, particularly avoidable ones of young people with potential are tragic whatever their nationality. Its just human nature to notice and comment on the people closer to home
