I suppose that the point is that although they are serving an arbitary jail sentence, they have been identified on the internet and once they come out their "punishment" will begin. By this I mean that whatever new identitied they have will be easily discovered and they will be living in fear of retribution. I hope these revolting individuals never have a good night's sleep.

Some consequences you have to live with, and this is one of them. I don't want them to have peaceful lives, in fact when they close their eyes I hope they see Baby P and that is the suffering I think they deserve.

Where there is a system in place you can bet somebody will be able to get around it or find a loophole.
The more complicated the system the more likely it is of being abused.
In the case of murder there should be only one sentence. Life!

A sentence of life which actually means life. There are only a handful of murderers that actually have a life term. I would like to see this extended to paedophiles and all those that abuse and torture children. No way, should they ever be allowed out to harm another child.

Quite probably.

However, good citizens and good people do not act as vigilantes. Part of the social contract is to relinquish administering natural justice in favour of the state so that it is performed impartially and fairly.

Not only would those vigilantes be guilty of whatever crime the commit, whether it be murder or assault or harassment, but they have broken their social contract too which undermines the justice system. They ought to get very stiff sentences, if convicted, as a deterrent to others inclined to do the same.

There was a documentary on C4 (I think) a while back about people who sit on parole boards and how they come to the decisions they sometimes come too. It was a bit of an eye opener
