I want to know when the status of 'refugees', implying flight from something horrid, was changed to 'asylum seekers', suggesting a ceaseless quest for the nearest nut-house
The last school I was in had a big sign in the staff room begging the staff to remind the children that people of other cultures existed. We had to work diversity into the lessons as it was a mono-ethnic school. In fact we all shared the exact same accent save for the Head who was from North Yorkshire.

There were quite a few beggars from Africa, I think probably North Africa, visible in Paris when I was last there and it's been like that for years. I don't know what their residency status was, obviously, but as I'm sure you're aware France had colonies in North Africa and has left an obvious cultural legacy there. Places like Morocco have French 'quarters' and people often speak French there as a second or third language. If I was a North African and I wanted to migrate to a European country then I think I would aim for France.
I don't have the figures to hand but Holland and Belgium has quite high numbers of immigrants as I recall. My step neice, a coverted muslim at that time, lived near Brussels in a Moroccan family. She experienced quite a lot of abuse for appearing like a muslim and for having quite dark skin. She says non-EU immigrants are generally quite unwelcome there. Ethnic communities have built up there and so I imagine they attract new members as it's easier to settle as the cultural infrastructure is there. Obviously I realise this is anecdotal.

However I can remember being involved in a conversation with a dozen or so of my German pals. They were all in their forties, and not one of them has children. i thought the whole point of allowing new countries to join the eu, thus increasing it to 27, was to help, by way of investment, factories, jobs, etc in the said new countries. the ideal as i read it, was to make goods within eu, rather than import everything from asia.
instead the mass migration occurred, some have moved back, but the 'host' countries have expanded disproportionately, while the new eu countries are missing their 'builders'.
as china 'hit' the scene, most manufacturers were forced to go further afield for goods, in order to compete, thus flooding the market and with profits to be made. booming up the house prices.
i don't think people have been encouraged to start large families or could afford too, so the migration explosion has been used as an excuse. thus gordon brown signed away our employment laws to eu's and to allow companies to hire foreign only workers on contracts.
as for pensions, if gorders hadn't helped himself to private pension funds, maybe the baby boomers would not have to rely on foreign workers taxes for their pensions. and what is not to say all workers pay their taxes to this country rather than have it sent 'home'. and this applies to the offshore co's and people of this land too.

You've originally asserted that it is because we apparently immediately give out benefits to all and sundry. I simply asked what benefits they are and you haven't even been able to answer that despite repeated questioning.
I asked because it is typical tabloid nonsense to claim all sorts of things that aren't true about immigration and people often just swallow it, add a load of their own outrage, and pass it on. Then, when questioned, they do exactly what you've done: splutter and try to change the subject.
