When my Mum and Dad divorced for various reasons I didn't want to have his surname and I changed it by deedpole

Yeah I changed it to my Mums maiden name

It doesn't matter now as I'm married now but I still use her maiden name as my maiden name (if that makes any sense

)

Yes its fully understandable. The thread title is misleading though as surely you can only divorce someone you've been married too!!
