I think the only time mine is ever switched off is if I am resetting it
Talking of mobile phones has reminded me that I'll have to put mine on charge, or I might as well not bother carrying it.

lol I did that one night when I was drunk and I caled the wrong no. Some woman answered so I hung up and they caled back so I pretended to be all sleepy and shouted at her for waking me up

My phone is always on silent and never on vibrate.....so I just pray to god I don't lose it.

I have that trouble with my tv remotes, usually they are stuffed down the back of the settee, god knows how the got there i always leave them on top of the telly.

I tend to keep it close by and sometimes notice if it lights up.
It's not always a good thing to be readily available, and it comes in handy sometimes when you don't feel like or have time to chat.
