Jack Straw has got a bee in his bonnett this week
How awful.
Somebody else confessed..what`s going on?

Obviously doesn't have lots of cash and the best solicitors that money can buy.... etc etc.
not sure if a pardon is whats needed, it was certainly "an unsafe conviction" so should have been overturned a long time ago, i guess its our government not wanting to tell the bulgarians that their justice system is corrupt.

He'd have a kick up the arse if I had anything to do with it.

*signs up with Dan for the arras kicking*
The thing I genuinely don't understand about this was that if someone else confessed but they didn't get charged for it, or wouldn't travel over to be charged then couldn't any old person say "yeah I did that" to get a mate off the hook with something. How do they know that this confession was genuine and the Michael Shields is not guilty?
This is a serious question, I am not trying to be all contraversial or start a fight?

No Linds this is a good point..I, being from Liverpool, have heard various stories about this guy but I could'nt go into them here.
Your right its never been proved he didn't do. If he didnt then the person who confessed is the person who is keeping him locked up.quote:Originally posted by Lindsxdx:

Someone falsly claimed to be the Yorkshire Ripper - many women were killed because that barsteward lead the police down the wrong path.
He's since been locked up.
People do, for some bizarre reason, confess to things they haven't done.
Aaah right, I thought I was missing something. I can understand the orginal convction being overturned if there wasn't enough evidence but not just on the basis that someone else said they did it.
