I know it's too hot for stew but that's what hubby said he fancied for dinner tonight so that's what I've made. It does smell good though.

I love stew and dumplings but I agree a little hot for it today.
I always love what you're having for dinner..I'm having a cold, salad dinner tonight
The only thing that will improve it is the cold white wine that accompanies it.

Mmmmmm...Dumplings*dribbles*
Chicken Kiev and then a multi fruited pavlova creation.
I miss cold white wine.

We're having lasagne with side salad and garlic bread. I'm going to make it right after Come Dine With Me.

Lovely when it's colder weather but no way do I put the oven on in my big windowed south facing kitchen once the garden thermometer (in full sun) reads 25-30C! If I do, I end up looking like this -> and feel like this ->
I bet you're a good cook

Ah, now see there is a benefit to having a basement kitchen in a nice cool Edwardian sandstone cottage.
I could eat a madras curry in the baking sunshine. I`m brave.

Dumplings should be steamed in the stew to make them nice and moist and fluffy.

Sounds idyllic during the hot weather. Bet it keeps warm in the winter too, being a basement.

Indeed. The chicken Kiev was disapppointing. Serves us right for buying it out of the "chuckout" To busy to cook. Back to the master sauce tomorrow.

Apart from it's inherent inaccuracy, I think you will find that material has been done to death Lilibet.
I described the recipe the other day but I am more than happy to go through it again with you, should you wish.
