So I came home last night and the dirty pots were still in the sink, I asked her nicely if she would mind washing them, she said yes but still when I came down this morning they were still in the sink. Also the toilet roll is runninig low and I'm going to get my own and keep it in my room.

Uh-oh, you didn't give her a timeframe! She said she'd wash them, but not when. I'd ask her again if I were you. Roll Eyes Big Grin

Poolie, just a suggestion....
Say to your flatmate that you will be needing to use the sink and the pots & pans in 30 minutes and hand her some Marigolds & a bottle of Fairy.
This will give her a deadline and show her you are trying to help her be a good housemate.

I had a 9am exam this morning and 2 of my flatmates arrived home at 2am and were so noisy...I couldnt get back to sleep for ages and when I got up this morning was knackered- I wanted to go out and say something last night but knew there was no point as they were drunk so just ignored it. I did change my facebook status to how tired I was though, and when I came back in from my exam i just went straight into my room and ignored them. One of them has since apologised and was like I feel really bad but the other hasnt she is acting like it hasnt happened and I'm really annoyed Frowner

On the plus side they did the washing up Ninja

Update:

Pots still not washed, I came home, took her pots out of the sink, made my tea which I decided would be a meal not requiring the use of her pots, washed up and replaced her stuff back in the sink, she finaly came home about half 9, went straight to her room and left for work this morning with the pots still in the sink. I also chucked all her clothes out of the washing machine so I could use it, if the problem is still the same tonight there will be hell to pay! Mad

As much as I would love to, I think she deserves a 2nd chance after I have had a word with her tonight. Anyway it's not even my place, it's my landlords place and it a Housing Association residence, he's allowed to sublet it because of some loophole, it's a beautiful place, just my luck all the peopke that have lived there since I moved in have faults with them all the time, mainly lazyness. In a few weeks when I have to sign on she can turn around to me and say " When you get a job then you can tell me what to do!".

The thing is.. the more you let it slide the more liberties she'll take.. and the more resntful you'll feel. Your home is where you are supposed to be able to relax and if you let this go on it'll just become uncomfortable.

Just sit her down and tell her that there are 3 people living in the place and you all are expected to pull your weight and make living there as stress free and as easy as possible. That means if she uses it she cleans it.. and not several days later or when it has become a health hazard but within a reasonable period of time so that every evening, when you all come to make your dinner, you don't have to wash someone elses mess up first. If she can't do that then she has three options.. she gets a cleaner in every day to clean up after her at her expense; she buys all her own pots and pans and uses them only and keeps the dirty remnants of her culinary adventures out of the kitchen and in a place where the mess will only impinge on her, or; she does one to the nearest sty or back home because you're not a pig and you're not her Mother.

We have a bloke who lives in our place Steve, he's a strange one, but he works in the day then goes straight to his studio after work where he paints, he never comes in till after midnight, and then he only makes toast. I have never to this day seen the man make a meal yet, what he lives on is beyond me!. He barely uses the washing machine, but at least when he does he takes his stuff out straight away, and at least he brings the mail in, all in all because he is never around he never makes a mess, but I know he is leaving soon.

If it comes back, I will send it round to you and you can put that in her bed! Glance

Only on your second home! Wink

Ahh, but it's their second home so they're probably already claiming..
