Is it possible to access the internet on a laptop if you are travelling in a car? Ie can you have a modem that you can carry with you of sorts?

Yes but you have to be in an area were there is a signal same as with your phone, so you may not be able to get on line in some areas

ÂĢ30 for an O2 USB stick. Pay-as-you-go by the day, week, or month. Great for working away in a hotel or something. A day on its own is about ÂĢ2.

mobile broadband can work out very costly but if i remember correctly the "three" mobile dongle is around ÂĢ15/month and allows more data than the other carriers.
dont take a long contract because wimax is coming and that will make cellular broadband obsolete, each wimax tower can reach around 30 miles and offers faster than home broadband speeds.

Yes 3G mobile broadband is the best.
Great coverage and i use it and havent had any problems at all so far.
Very easy to set up on your lappy as well.
Im using it now outside in the sun with a glass of rose.....bliss

12 months should be ok (apart from the price) it'll be at least that long until some kind of wimax service is useable (unless you are in the isle of wight which already has wimax)
