I would like the Karma stars back, and am surprised more people are against them than 'for' them.

It never bothered me having a smaller star when some had bigger ones, and I enjoyed seeing my stars change and get bigger. Also I don't mind if the post count is on show.

Not really sure what to suggest about what people could be called though. Maybe they could be 'forum member' up to a thousand posts then bronze member, when they are between 1000 and 5000 posts, then silver member between 5000 posts and 10000 posts, then gold member between 10000 and 20000 posts, then platinum member between 20000 and 30000 posts. Then when they get to 50000, they become a double-platinum member... and then that's as far as you go. It would take YEARS to get that many posts.

Just mt opinions and thoughts. Smiler

I think you should have a post count. It helps people to spot certain reincarnations. (Mind you, displaying the registering date helps a lot with that problem.)

However I don't think ALL posts should be counted.

Certain threads - like the games thread for instance shouldn't count towards the post count.
On C4 some posters logged up over a hundred posts a day just by posting single smileys or single words on the games forum.
It made a bit of a nonsense of the Post Count in my opinion.

On Digital Spy they have a "Chatter" section and anything you post on there isn't added onto your post count. That seems a good idea.

I agree - but I don't think posts on the games forum should count towards it.

Do you remember the FM called Grasshopper? He just posted hundreds of smilies a day on the Games Forum to get two twirlies and 40,000 posts in about two years!!!!. I don't think I ever saw an ordinary post of his with words and opinions. Big Grin

I don't really understand the post count/stars problem. Even in this thread, people are expressing a problem with how the post count/stars were gained. Does it really matter where or how they were achieved? It's not a big deal but as it seems to matter to some, I think it is best not re-introduced. It created many rows on C4 and the same rows/comments will just rumble on.....as is demonstrated in this thread before a Karma has been introduced Laugh

Not really bothered, but since joining here have been in the games forum quite a lot and only on a few occassions posted on BB forum so far, people who use the games forum are spending time on here and joining in,so i think it a bit unfair to be dismissive of their post counts, but like i said not really bothered about stars etc.

I agree San. It encourages pointless competition. Let everyone be judged on the content of their posts, the thought in their responses and the good nature they bring to the place. They could even reset the post counts to zero every day as well.

How about karma titles based on either being gaga or joy Smiler

What the bloody hell is the difference? You know, it would be novel and lovely, if ppl could be straight around here. I'm sick to the back teeth of having to guess WTH is going on.

I've only just seen this.. and I have to say..

My vote is no karma titles and stars.

As much as I have loved giving birth to each and everyone of my sparklies, I remember back to my first days on C4 and how intimidating they can appear to newbies.

to be quite honest if you get intimidated by anothe rusers stars it's pathetic, when I first joined C4 forums and users had 60,000 or more posts I looked up to them and wanted to follow in ther footsteps, don't be so silly suggesting to get rid of karma title, at the end of the day why would anyone in their right mind get intimidated by just a number like please

Ohh ya redickulus.. Lovely tone btw.

I said how intimidating they can appear to newbies. On C4 big stars and twirlies equalled greater post count which would usually equal greater time spent on the forum posting their views and gaining a 'reputation' and/or maybe a little kudos. Couple that with obvious groups of people posting away with each other like they were old mates and you have the equivalent of starting your first day as the new kid in school... which you have half illustrated for me by saying you 'looked up' to posters and wanted to 'follow in their footsteps'.

Very quickly you realise that the stars/post counts mean sod all. Just several weeks posting shite or even smilies in the games forum and you're there.. it said absolutely nothing about quality just quantity.

If post counts/karma/stars aren't important.. like you say.. then no need for them huh.
