If we're talking about how we speak and if it's proper English then I'm outta here. I talk awfy bad

however, i would like to point out that, despite a lack of capitals, my punctuation, grammar and post content are exemplary.
Of course
...... and another gripe is when people say 'they was' instead of 'they were'.
My husband always says 'off of' instead of just 'off'. You don't fall off of something, you just fall 'off' something.

Fettes.
Bad grammar and spelling both irritate me. However, the only time I ever comment on them if when the culprit has sneered about someone else's use of English.
"As" instead of "has" is everywhere now.
It's a new thing and it drives me scatty.

I thought these forums where supposed to be for fun. My grammar and spelling is usually not good so I can only appologise if people are offended by it..
should have
Here. Just shoot me.

Typing "your" instead of "you're"/"its" instead of "it's" - or vice-versa.
Having said that, I've picked up some shocking slovenly habits here over the years

My grammar is rubbish and my typing is so bad that I get letters in the wrong places all the time (I love my spellcheck...I can actually spell but it corrects typos quicker than I can)
I've never been taught where to use commas, apostrophes etc.
I was taught capital letters and full stops, but that's about it. I just guess mostly and I've learnt a few tips over the years from the forums (<<<See, I know that's supposed to be fora)
It doesn't offend me at all to see spelling and grammar errors...but this "as" "has" thing has got me confused...I don't know how the "h" got lost.

I will never forget looking at a piece of work my daughter had completed in class when she was in Year 2. She had written 'I should have....' Her teacher had crossed it out, and corrected it to ' I should OF...'. I enrolled her at another school the following day.

I'd have gone round there and played holy hell with her. Unbelievable!

This happened right at the end of term, and the teachers were having a clear out of all the exercise books for the year, so the book in question was sent home a couple of days later. Once I had another school place sorted out, I went to see the Headteacher and showed her the book. She didn't seem particularly concernedquote:Originally posted by Demantoid:quote:Originally posted by Growlybear:

Jeebus, I bet you were livid. If ever there's a time for a stiff letter to the local education department and board of governors, coupled with a threat to ring the local rag..
That school doesn't sound fit to teach a dog to cock its leg!
I've always been really good with my Spelling and Grammar .

I'd guess for most of us typing carelessly on here is purely down to sheer laziness, rather than not knowing any better! Typos on here don't bother me at all.
But dontcha just LOVE people who proceed to criticise & rip apart how you post, whilst making several errors themselves too

People who type something like: 'They only think about themselfs'.

I remember my little niece showing me her homework one day and the teacher's comments in the margin. I couldn't believe the grammar and the spelling mistakes - made by this teacher

That is the only time I ever comment on anyone's spelling
Oh, apart from when someone's typo has left their post open to a smutty interpretation, or similar

Your level of typing accuracy on here is awesome, mate. Even when you're messing about, you always have everything covered.
