Nah – I gave it 15 minutes but I have the old ones on DVD and Leonard Rossiter was so definitive that I cannot accept a new Reggie – although I do understand that office politics are outdated in the old one – part of its charm I suppose.

I thought the laughter was canned but saw M Clunes on telly and he said it was in front of a studio audience….

Now I normally like Martin Clunes. He was superb in a one off comedy by John Sullivan called “Over Here” set in WWII – one of the funniest things I have ever seen and I’ve got it on vid but you just can’t get hold of it on DVD Mad

Good evening btw Big Grin

I can't make up my mind.

I saw him on GMTV or was it breakfast saying it was infront of a live audience, and was a bit shocked too, I will watch it if I remember, but I can't make up my mind.

As for Mr Clunes he is usually good value, and even though I hate to admit it, I love Doc Martin, although having the delightful ms Catz and Katherine Parkinson? does helpBig Grin

It has something, but I dunno if I like it, will def try and remember to watch next time.

I think it`s OK.
Perhaps best not to compare with earlier version.
I didn`t much like Leonard Rossiter`s rather, er, `idiosyncratic`(?) acting style anyway.
I don`t like the audience laughter we are getting in the new series; (it may not be `canned` but it has certainly been tampered with.) Apart from that I am enjoying it.

After reading this thread yesterday, I watched both episodes on the demand thingy on virgin.

I thought it was very funny and shall be watching it this Friday. So thanks for the recommendation! Thumbs Up

I could only watch half of the first programme because of the 'enhanced' laughter, it was doing my head in. It's a pity, because I was really looking forward to it, I do like Martin Clunes, and thought he was a good choice for the part.
