My son has been told his picture has been put on FB. I'm not very happy about this as he is only 13yrs old. I do not have a FB account for a very good reason so can anyone tell me what I need to do about getting it removed. Thanks

The problem is I don't know who posted the picture. If I don't have a FB account can I go and look for the picture or do i have to sign up, something I am very unhappy about doing as I avoid these things for a reason.
Or you could just ask the person who has put it up to take it down

The thing with the pictures is most profiles are private and can't be viewed by anyone who isn't on your friend list. If it is one of your sons school chums the chances are most of his friends will also be school chums and they are the only ones who can see the pictures. If you were to sign up you would need to become friends with the person who has the photo before you can see it.
Unfortunately I don't know who put the picture up so I can't ask them remove it. The problem is he has had some problems with a gang of kids at school and could possibly one of them.
If your son is being victemised and it is happening at school you should inform the school. Then perhaps they can help you. It sounds really quite stressfull for your family.
Chances are its as Yogi said.. a picture thats just got him tagged.
How does your son know its there?

I would definitely let school know!

Someone at school mentioned that they had seen it. I have my reasons for keeping pictures of myself and family off things like this. He isn't bothered too much but I'm very unhappy about it.

If someone at school mentioned they had seen it then they will be able to identify who has put it on. I'd start by asking politely for it to be removed, (either the parent of the child or through the school.) If that doesn't work then I'd be more forceful, I'm pretty sure it's a breach of the data protection act to publish someone's pic without their consent..and if there's cyber-bullying going on then there are criminal offences relating to that.
Thanks everyone for the advice. I'm going to have to handle this quite carefully as he is already quite hyped about everything at the moment and I don't want to make it worse for.

Mentalist, have a look at the thread I've put on the Big Brother page re keeping your kids safe on line- you might find it useful/interesting?
