We are discussing abuse in Catholic institutions on this thread.

Well I am broadening out the discussion. I know its nice for some to infer it is just a problem in Ireland. Hence my link to India. I can also get you a link for abuse within Jewish institutions.

Abuse in India

How can you dare say that'its nice for some to infer' its just a problem in Ireland. I have read and re-read the comments pertaining to this subject on this forum and believe I do not think anyone finds this subject so appealling or WANT ownership of this revolting scenario for Ireland.
IMO, You are just being contentious regarding abuse in other religious institutions, of COURSE we are aware it is not restricted to Irish catholics but that is what we are discussing as this rather unfortunate subject is being heavily highlighted/discussed at the moment. As I sit writing this the Ryan report is currently being discussed on the radio and it is appalling. No need to offer a link to other websites, I'm declining your offer as I can find them on my own.

I also went to a Convent School, I liked my school, just thought Sister Aquinas
Chose the wrong vocation. She couldn’t stand me and I couldn’t stand her.

I think quite a few chose the wrong vocation! Big Grin

Our family prefers the expression, "escaped Catholic."
TBF, no-one has mentioned the Kincora scandal yet.

You keep orange juice drinks out of this

Do you know anything about the Kincora scandal?....On second thoughts I'd say you don't or you wouldn't be so flippant about the abuse torture and alleged murder which happened there.

Decent start might be to rename 'religion' as 'superstition' and outlaw the teaching of these lies to children Ninja

Thumbs Up

Fat chance when it's compulsory to GCSE level. Although granted it covers a lot more these days. I studied "Scripture" as it was then called to A Level but I saw it as an extension of history and philosophy. I've never had any religious conviction.

I see no problem with the theory of the belief when taken in line with other ideologies. Generally speaking it's the religious institutions I cannot stomach.
