I just googled the process for changing your name by Deedpole, and it said you need a witness when signing the forms, OK there were 2 people signing the forms in the diary rom, a few million watching it on TV but not acually in the room, and BB itself (again not in the diary room), so no witnesses means they haven't really changed their names I guess. Petty bit of investigative work I know.

lol I explained this to everyone when it happened. To everyone in the house, it's real just like the marriage of Stephanie/Mario they both believed they might have to 'get married' and then annul it (one of the things which scared Steph half to death).
The HM's either knew it wouldn't be legitimate which is why they jumped at it, or they're stupid enough to believe they've done something major in their lives to gain HM status.

I think it's more likely to be the latter, particularly in the case of Dogface. She really hadn't got much idea what day of the week it was, let alone that she was supposedly changing her name

I think the point of it was more to see how far they would go for their 15 minutes rather than actually do it legally.

I'm not thick but I wasn't sure myself if they had been tricked, having never wanted to go through the process I wasn't sure what it entailed.
When I changed my name by deed poll . I had to have an upstanding member of the community sign it to witness it

I only know because I've drawn up so many for clients in the past I guess.
Sorry Poolie - wasn't trying to imply you were thick. I was just surprised you believed they'd changed their names to the ridiculous ones BB had given them.
