Ok... so I am two days behind on this story!

aww you guys thought everyone had forgotten. This is so nice!
It turned out that he has an infection of the anal glands (really nasty and very painful), they sedated him on Wednesday and sluished it all out. He's on Anti-B's which I am having to crumble onto ham, roll it up and stick a cat treat in the middle for him to eat it (he won't just eat ham ) for 7 days. Just been back to the vets this morning and the vet checked him out, said it's still quite bad and needs to see him in again in a week.
ÂĢ100 + just to have your bum washed out
I'd have done it with the garden hose for ÂĢ20!
Sounds like a colonic for cats...whatever next?

my lovely cat is in a bad way, we found out this morning that he's bleeding from his rear end, took him straight away to the vet, and the vet said it's so bad, they are going to have to sedate him just so they can look at it, he thinks he may have been bitten. Have left him and we are all so worried
- Its a crappy smiley Pussycat! Here was me stressing about my dogs kennel cough, and then I read your post and it kinda puts things into perspective.
Am crossing fingers for him xx
Thank you Ditty, hope your wee dog gets better soon
glad to hear he's on the mend and its not too serious.
Thank you Kitty, glad Cleo's ok now. Awful innit, that they can't tell you how much pain they are in?

Anal gland problems are very distressing for both cats & dogs and expressing said glands are distressing for the expressers too.
My late lamented cat used to need expressing every few weeks and it is not a job for the faint hearted.
