Live feed axe blamed for BB slump

Big Brother producers suspect that the decision to axe the show's live feed has led to poor ratings this year, according to a report.

Channel 4 announced that 24/7 coverage from the house would be dropped before January's celebrity edition and the broadcaster has not reinstated the service for the current run.

Series ten launched with more than five million viewers earlier this month but the programme's audience has since fallen below 2m on several occasions.

An insider told the Daily Star: "Fans were not happy about losing their access to the house. It seems many have carried out their threats not to tune in this year."

Davina McCall and a number of former housemates recently backed viewers who are using petitions to campaign for the live feed's return.

However, Channel 4 has defended its decision to scrap the streaming by claiming that "less and less" people used the facility as the years went by.

Exactly. I think that proves it is not financial reasons as to why they have scrapped it. It is purely down to the fact that they do not want us to see anything that is happening live. They want us just to watch what they want us to watch Mad

I can't see there being another BB. I have always been an avid viewer but somehow I just can't summon up the enthusiasm over this one and that's probably due to the fact that here's no live feed.

Although I wasn't glued to LF it quite clearly generated interest in the press and on here - it's very evident that the whole buzz is missing.

Very sad IMO.

i would Glance

i won't be glued to it neither....but its there to watch out for those undetectable behaviour pattens/nuances not possible on hl and also with the forum combo of reporting whats going on, its makes a perfect programme...for observing and ranting at thru out the summertime..on going for 3 months

I would watch it, after all its what we've been campaigning for. You just have to look at the amount of threads in a BB FORUM, that are not BB related to see how bored everyone is with the set up just now. We used to discuss the LF, and if we missed something, someone else would see it and bring it to our attention..... then we would look for it in the hl's show. It generated excitement for us all, not just the ones that watched it 24/7. OOOOOH I miss BB Frowner

I blame the man in this article, Lord Puttnam.
It appears he was only happy with BB if it was raising large amounts of revenue. So as there maybe a large BBC handout on offer he gets his way and BB is wound down year after year until the viewing figures drop enough for it to be shelved.

That explains why for every complaint us fans have about fauxmances, the same sterotypical HM
appearing each year, the LF complaints dating back to the red button being axed on freeview, the crappy forum always breaking and not being repaired....BB/C4 has constantly done the opposite of what the fans want.
