Like Yellow Rose, I had to undergo surgery last summer and was due to go down to theatre on Tuesday afternoon. There was a pile up on the autoban so the crash victims took precedence and my surgery was postponed, but was kept 'Nil by mouth' in preparation for theatre.

To cut a long story short, I didn't get to theatre until Thursday evening. During this time I was on a saline drip and had tiny sips of water.
I felt wretched after two days but surprisingly bursting with energy, almost euphoric on the third day and not even hungry.
In four days I lost 7lb in weight and never regained it back. The thing is, I was very healthy to start with and I was medically monitored all the time. I don't think Angel is doing herself any favours restricting one of the only pleasures she has in the house.

Ask your doctor.

Short-term detox diets are unnecessary but probably harmless. Marketed detox diets, involving books and recipes and products, are a scam.

Your body deals with the 'toxins' naturally. It has organs specifically designed to do that.

Obviously if you're necking several bottles of wine each day then you risk damage to those organs but half a lemon and some posh fruit-based tea one day a week is not going to sort that out.

The only detox diet I have ever done was a good month long one where I just ate organic, avoided foods that people are most commonly sensitive to and cut out sugar, choclate and Coffee. Despite making me feel like crap for the first week, it had lasting benefits in that I reduced my ridiculous choclate habit and cut my sugar and coffee consumption by more than half. Fasting has never appealed though as I am a very active person and like to maintain my muscle mass. If you are as thin as Angel, you're body will burn its own muscle for essential repairs!

I'm with you on that one Stonks, but Noiriin is as bad, 'I need to lose some weight anyway' she's like a stick insect Eeker what is that telling the young girls that watch Shake Head

And anyways fasting for 3 days, as long as you are fit and healthy is ok, I do it all the time *munch munch*

I agree about Noiriin aswell Pussy but fasting but eating fruit can be good for the gut but complete fasting can cause osteoporosis....

I agree stonks I have said the same but the point has been missed its not about detox she said she is doing it to prove a point, I just dont understand she cannot see she is sending out the wrong message a bit selfish in her actions in my opinion.

It probably does a lot to sort out the bank balances of Carol Vorderman and the various other celebs who have cashed in on this spurious fad.

Exactly Marg, she said she has spent most her life on her own and its showing, she's acting totally selfish and reckless....

That feeling crap is probably caffeine withdrawal symptoms. I get that if I'm away from work for a few days as I don't drink coffee at home. Ninja

If people essentially stop eating for 3 days then they end up in ketosis with low blood sugar levels. They end up feeling weak, grumpy, and have a raging headache. The same happens on an Aitkins type diet because the body has to swap to using ketones instead of carbohydrates for energy. You just run down your glycogen store and waz a lot in the process.

Angel is having glucose so shes not going to be compromised in that way,as well as getting some nutrients from cooking liquids.

But this argument that you musnt fast on tv because your going to give anorexics ideas is utter rubbish. Its like saying they mustnt be seen drinking a beer as its giving encouragement for alcoholism.
