His reaction to being asked if he was gay. Said he had trouble wiping his own bum and looked horrified at the thought of being considered gay. I suppose that was it.

I don't find that homophobic personally, it's just that someone asked if he was something that he's not. I think they need to stfu.

I think it was a homophobic reaction in the proper sense of the word. I don't think that makes him a Bad Person at all. Just not very worldly wise or experienced.
