A lot of men get dead dead obssessive about baldness or going grey.
I well remember an incident in one of my workplaces where Alan passed by a seated Tony and said, "Looks like your getting a bit of a bald patch there Tony!"
Tony was up like a flash and had Alan up against the wall, "Don't you ever say I'm going bald or I'll break your neck!"

Sad isn't it.

sad? not really, you can hardly BLAME them when you see the way in which baldness is treated especially in western culture, in movies or tv the bald guy,(untill very recently) was ALWAYS either the villain or a fool, or both, baldness was/IS seen as ugly/creepy/sad, etc ,
its used as an insult when having a row, as in "you bald bastard"
taking the piss out of baldies is still socialy aceptable you see it on tv EVERYDAY snigger snigger at the bald guy, its NOT "cool" to snigger at the blind guy or the guy in a wheelcahir, but taking the piss out of baldies is ok, even though its something they have no control over, and it may well be very distressing for them, I KNOW, I ve been there, I started to go bald in my early 20s (in the 70s)at the time I had very long hair and it was my "main asset" in the pulling department the girls loved my hair, and realising I was going bald was a thing that took me over 20 years to come to terms with, and luckily for me all of a sudden bald became "sexy" never saw THAT coming, cause for most of my young life baldies were to be taken the piss out of, and anyone who shaved their entire head was a "weirdo",
so yeah...I can understand "Alan" s reaction, Nod
