They were charging £2.50 fee on the machines at Sandown Races.... bizarre considering they would be wanting people to take out more cash to bet with!

I would love to support my local milkman, but with 6 of us, it would be cheaper to buy a cow Roll Eyes

Still see the milkman come round in the morning, think he only stops at 2 houses in our Close Disappointed

We used the milkman for a while... a rep from the Dairy came to the door and said that the milkmans round was in danger, cos of not enough customers... would we sign up.. so we did.

The milkman was NOT happy at all... he was a right grumpy sod! He resented us not setting up a direct debit, and him having to knock for the money... in the end he stopped delivering to us!

Anyone remember when the Baker used to deliver? When I was little I remember he used to leave the uncut 'Tin' loaf in a greaseproof bag outside your house. You had to be quick tho cos the cat next door used to pee on it Sick

Hardly ever these days.

I used to use them but now you can pay bills over the phone & on the internet, I have no need to write a cheque out.

Very Sorry to hear about your card pussycatj Hug ... that's frightening ... three times Frowner

Laugh I did think that... but they were all low... all three of them. Maybe they were just making them all accessible...

I asked my milkmaid if a standing order would be easier for her and she said she preferred to come round and collect Roll Eyes
So now she is the only reason that I even have a cheque book Smiler

Laugh It is quite normal, my OH owns a small wheelie bin cleaning company. Dirty work but it brings the money in Wink
You'd be surprised over how hard it is to get £2 off a lot of people to have it dont though but with a fortnightly collection I think it's worth it Thumbs Up

And (someone else asked about milkmen) yeah, I have a milkman aswell, only calls a few days a week but it's great having it delivered before we're even out of bed Thumbs Up

We still even have a mobile shop that comes round our way Laugh I hear they aren't really in use over in the UK but here in Northern Ireland we have a few and the're dead handy.

As for cheques, no I don't use them, pay for everything by cash Thumbs Up

You're hubby only charges £2 too? I'm definitely being ripped off! Does he want to come to Scotland? There's only company to choose from round here though - it's them, do it yourself or have a smelly bucket. I'll stick with them.

On the cloning thing btw - haven't had a card cloned, but was stupid enough to leave my card in a chip n pin machine in the Co-op (name and shame!) I remembered and called half an hour later and they had it, so I said I'd call in next day and pick it up. What I didn't realise was that if you lose your card, even temporarily, you should report it to your bank. I realised when I saw £30 to a US online gaming site on my online statement. Some little scrote in the Co-op obviously had it away with the card numbers before they handed the card in. Have to say though, Intelligent Finance refunded the money immediately with no argument.

I used to be jellus of all you people who had wheelie bin councils.... ours aren't into the wheelie bins... even if we buy one we have to use them to store just black bin bags of rubbish in... and leave the black bin bags out for collection (along with a recycling bag for plastics, and a plastic box for tins & bottles).

After reading about maggots & wheelie bin cleaning.... I am quite glad we don't have them now!

There are a few other companies who charge £2.50/£3 but because people complain about paying £2 as it is he dosn't think he should up the price.
