They are in Papya (sp) New Guinea, the Rainforessts are owned by the remote tribes that live there, and are been sold for logging.
It said that the land owner (tribe) will get around ÂĢ8 for each tree, by the time it reaches the UK it will be sold on for around ÂĢ1,000.
The tribes sell the trees so they can afford to get medical treatment as malaria is rife...
...so sad that they are cutting these magnificent places down, it is said that they contain aroun 60 to 80% of all species...they also help reduce global warming.
i understand these tribes need money for medical care, but it sickens me that somebody somewhere is making so much money and paying these tribes a pittance....how can they sleep at night knowing they are ripping people off for their own greedy needs, people are dying from malaria and they pay them nothing....
...these rainforests need to be saved....it saddens me so much...

Me too, fascinating stuff, and amazing they can still find new species...the enthusiasm really shines through, especially the guy with the beard who loves the bugs and stuff.....sadly, this may not always be the case if we continue to destroy the rainforests....
